May 1, 2018 Razor: Schick Krona Blade: Dorco ST-301 (3) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Williams Post: Alum, Listerine, WH In and among my adventures with the corroded Red Tip, I also got my other package which consisted of a Krona, a Bakelite Star (with the proper cap!), and a Trac II handle; all of which will find their way into one or more shaves this month. Today, it was the Krona, a razor I'd read a lot of positive things about but had never tried before. My first impression is that it is a mild razor but possibly a bit more aggressive than a SuperSpeed... but not in a bad way, per se. I think the results speak for themselves- a BBS with no issues or irritation. So far, I have no real MAYhem plan; probably just great shaves with some new razors and some old friends. And maybe break out the Marvy soap.
Happy Mayhem, gentlemen! Last year I kicked off the insanity by taping a razorblade to my finger and doing a two pass shave that sort of worked ok until the tape got too wet. This year, I went for pure insanity by going with a safe, easy, and simple shave with my injector. I did get to use my new shave bowl for the first time, and finally finished off the Beaver Woodwright soap I have been trying to kill since February. Only took two and a half months, but it's gone. I killed off the aftershave on Monday. The bowl was custom made to my specs by Lobster Rose Pottery, and fits absolutely perfectly in my hand. Three passes, BBS, and no irritation. Not a bad way to start the month. I do have a bit of shinanigans planned this year, but it won't be at quite the level of dedication I did last year.
As I wrote in an earlier post, my MAYhem plan actually began last month(last month being just 24 hours ago and earlier, lol). That is to pick up on the advice from a poster who suggested the best way to shave the neck is to go easy on it. This may have fallen into the "obvious advice" category, but I do need to try to soften my neck.
Great photos, Mark @Boojum1, Jason @jtspartan and Adam @Drygulch! Also an excellent report by @John Ruschmeyer. Adam, that was an impressively wild stunt you pulled to kick off the month! A loaded Schick! Glad to hear you didn’t get any blood spattered on that nice new bowl... Jason, travel safe, don't get eaten by any bears on the BC roads, and when you get back and pull out the painstick, keep the medkit handy...
Heres some German SE engineering at its finest! This creation consists of parts of nail clippers, mirror mount bracket, leftover piece of door weatherstrip and Gem SE blade spine. Dont laugh . It actually gave me a smooth 2 pass shave without drama. Ja Ja Ja. Razor- whatchmacallit Omega boar Williams soap Dickinson WH Aqua Velva blue Tomorrow's razor may not shave so good. Its kind of risky looking but im kinda risky . Enjoy your day gentlemen.
