  1. I’m posting tomorrow’s shave just in case there’s anything to I need to know ahead of time.

Excluding straights or the Kamasouri blades from last year (and I use the term blade quite loosely here) I have never shaved with a SE Razor. You know, one in the style of a Gem or Valet, or Lather Catcher or whatever. I have a few in the den, so what better month than MAYhem to face the music. As such, I’m going with B&M Night Music to complete the theme. OK, I know it’s not a stunt shave, nor is it designed to impress anyone here, but it is a step in proceeding along my path. Besides, you gotta admit, using a razor blade that’s typically used for removing paint would probably be considered a little nuts by the average guy. Anyway any of you SE Veterans got any tips, words of wisdom or warnings?

  3. Going to the sharp side eh? Keep the cap against your face and boom....you have the proper angle . Thats my advice . Good luck.

I call this shave ...hold my beer and watch this!
Made this one yesterday also..took longer to shave than to build it . Was my Dads bottle opener and i married a Gem ss single edge blade to it . Results were ..shave was comparable to first time with shavette , 2 passes and cleaned up with the Fw. No band-aids were harmed or needed but were on standby. The soap was ToBS cedar scent gifted from Jack@sparrow. The rest is obvious . Overall i was happy with the results and no blood loss. Have a great evening gentlemen!

  5. As Patrick said, keep the cap pretty much flat against your face. I would add that I have always had the best luck shaving my upper lip by doing it sideways (with skin tightening). I have never done very well going up-down or down-up on the moustache area with these bigger Gem SE razors. Finally, there are SE blades for shaving and others made strictly for boxcutting / paint stripping, and I would strongly recommend not mixing the two.
  6. Very well said...and skin stretching really helps alot.

  7. No claim to SE veteranhood, other than my injector (which I like), but 1 small question.

Got any old paint on your face?

Omg .Just wait ...theres more . If you call now we will give you a free pea sized soap sample valued at $9.99 for the low low price of 99 cents. That was a classic Bill i must say. Good stuff.
  10. As of tomorrow, no. I think I remember getting these at the drugstore for shave-friendliness, but I can’t guarantee it. It’s MAYhem, so I’m locked and loaded either way...
  11. Finally going to give Night Musica go huh? Let me know how it goes over with the Mrs!

  13. @BaylorGator - this.... It approximates SR blade feel fairly well.
  14. New paint scrapes easier. ;)
  15. Never let a little stratum corneum stand in the way of progress, you'll grow more in no time flat.
  16. Ain’t a whole lotta new left anywhere on me anymore. At this point I’ll just have to take my chances.
    Thanks for the advice, guys.
  17. I’ve been working on these soaps for a long time, I decided to pick the ones that were more than half finished and focus on finishing them. None of mine started as new pucks in 2018.

  18. Man! Patrick came out swinging for the fences!
  19. You’ve now got me thinking about this John. I bought the blades a long time ago. Is there a way to verify which is which by looking at them?
  20. Shaving is the best way to differentiate.
