Well that's not nice @Enrico cause your poor baby sticky has been screaming out loud, WAAAAH, Daddy please SHAVE ME NOW!! been so lonely
Karve 3"/D, Skagen Jorn. Total cost about same as what Matt is offering the Rex Ambassador in the group buy elsewhere and I couldn't do both. Ultimately I'm not an adjustables guy. I'm thinking the .98mm D plate on the Karve will get the job done though I know others swear the pending E and F are the bee's knees. The Jorn is a few bucks more than the Hagen and Signatur models but I went for the thinner-lighter piece. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Congrats on the buys! But for not an adjustable type of guy I like the adjustable razors you have lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love the Apollo and Gibbs but they don't get adjusted much. Ditto Futur and Progress. I just set and forget. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I feel that’s what the idea is behind the adjustable. Why buy 3-4 razors when you can buy one and adjust it to your liking and find that sweet spot. At least that’s how I look at it. Once you dialed in the shave why adjust any further? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I used to adjust my Personna Gibbs between passes. I found I got a closer 2-pass shave if I turned it up 1.5-2 notches. I miss that razor...
On the Karve ... just curious; what made you choose this over a Rockwell S6 or do you have one already? Or was it the fact that it's made of brass? (which is cool).
I guess I'm at a point where gap doesn't matter much to me, I could set my Progress or Gibbs at most any setting and enjoy the shave, so the premium associated with adjustables generally doesn't seem worth it. The Apollos as collectibles are kind of in a different class. What is this "buy one razor" business you speak of?? Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I have the 6C so I don't need a 6S. I stick with the 5 plate. Brass is definitely cool, especially at this price point. Mostly it's reviews it's been getting from folks who have Timeless and Wolfman razors and such, So far everyone I've seen who has both the Rockwell and Karve has given the edge to the Karve. I figure at $87 delivered it's worth checking out. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Prickliest, scratchiest, most uncomfortable knot I have EVER used. Worst $85 I have ever spent in this hobby. Even after 50, yes, 50 shaves, these bristles refused to break in/split. My $25 SOC is a softer, better brush. I will say that the handle was nice---nice enough to put a DG knot into.
Here little sticky is. Adapting well to his new home; making new friends. Jokes aside- I really am enjoying it! Thanks @Enrico !
I have an omega boar brush that never would break in. I even cut the loft down a tad to see if the ends would soften up and and nope. Hard as a straw broom / bristle brush and I usually soak it for 30 mins so the bristles don’t scrape away the skin before a shave.. lol it tears through a hard puck though.
