Mother’s Day MAYhem Shave
I went out on a limb this morning and had my first shavette style shave with the Edward Scissorhands style shavette below. It actually was quite comfortable to hold and shave with; you just gotta be careful about the corners of the blade. Moving through my first pass quickly in order to avoid spousal discovery prior to going out for Mother’s Day Brunch contributed to a couple minor nicks. These started leaking enough blood that I relathered and finished two quick DE passes before my bride had time to be concerned about me creating any scars or gashes that might show up in any Mother’s Day pics that might get taken. Thankfully, the steptic pencil concealed all the evidence
I’ll probably use this contraption again this month, but I’m guessing I may ultimately prefer the CJBpainstick due to the longer blade. Also loved theShavemac D01 wall of badger and the GD Ambra.

 

It was polished by the seller to a mirror finish.

 

3 passes tonight with the Pipe Razor and a new soap aquired in a trade. Its good - never used a leather scent before but i like it.

Saturday Night (5/12/18)
* Schick Type O again with the Vintage Gilette Twinjector on 2nd shave. Honestly, this has to be the easiest bbs shave possible. Anybody interested but does not want to pay ridiculous money, get the Clone type O - it shaves exactly the same, I can't imagine the Clone will be around forever and it is only available at ebarbershop.com.....

PAA Cold Spice soap and long lasting a.s./Cologne is the best Shulton tribute around, I have tried all the big name artisans Old spice tributes, there all awesome but cold spice just screams the Old formula, and the aftershave lasts all day and strong, also a menthol kick to make it even better..

Tonight's shave was with some Swedish Steel. I had a fantastic 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues, just smoothness all over.

Razor- Joseph Elliot. Best Silver Steel.
Brush- B400 By Tom. Whipped Dog Boar Knot. 1 hair lost, and definitely slowing down. Feels super soft.
Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented.
Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

I got this razor for Christmas (stocking stuffer), loved it, got distracted after the New Year and haven't touched it since til today....
BUT....This was also an exordinary and fantastic shave!

I'm HOME! What a great four days we had. I haven't had that much just outright fun in AGES!! When we got back to our campsite last night we checked the time and realized it was actually this morning. Nothing like a little techno dancing among other things to keep you going until 3 A.M. And who says camping is boring? Biggest issues upon arriving home - unloading the car, finding food to eat, just trying to walk on legs that are sore beyond comprehension, and that four day old beard. My, my, my where did all that gray come from. I swear it wasn't there yesterday.

So, dinner solved with some delivery, hot showers to relax the sore muscles, and then down to shaving. I decided to give the Gem Junior its chance to knock down that growth with the same Treet blade I've had in it and the Kampfe so far. Shave #4 on a carbon SE blade in a classic SE razor. What's the worst that could happen?

Well, I'm not bleeding. I'm close to the baby but man was that ever challenging. Day four on these blades shouldn't really be all that bad but it was up against a lot. And it pulled a lot. And tugged a lot, but it did mow down the growth. The first pass reminded me of something out of Chinese steel. The rest of the shave, though, was quite smooth and not at all uncomfortable. All in all, not terrible.

Looks like I have lots of reading to do around here. I'll get after it until my head hits the desk and forces me to bed. A night of catching up on sleep and detoxing the vodka in my system is probably a good thing. Hope you have a great start to your week!
