  1. MAYhem 2018!!!!!

    May 13

    Razor - Gem Junior
    Blade - Treet Super Single Edge.jpg (4)
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - BoS Omega 10060
    Post - Alum

I'm HOME! What a great four days we had. I haven't had that much just outright fun in AGES!! When we got back to our campsite last night we checked the time and realized it was actually this morning. Nothing like a little techno dancing among other things to keep you going until 3 A.M. And who says camping is boring? Biggest issues upon arriving home - unloading the car, finding food to eat, just trying to walk on legs that are sore beyond comprehension, and that four day old beard. My, my, my where did all that gray come from. I swear it wasn't there yesterday.

So, dinner solved with some delivery, hot showers to relax the sore muscles, and then down to shaving. I decided to give the Gem Junior its chance to knock down that growth with the same Treet blade I've had in it and the Kampfe so far. Shave #4 on a carbon SE blade in a classic SE razor. What's the worst that could happen?

Well, I'm not bleeding. I'm close to the baby but man was that ever challenging. Day four on these blades shouldn't really be all that bad but it was up against a lot. And it pulled a lot. And tugged a lot, but it did mow down the growth. The first pass reminded me of something out of Chinese steel. The rest of the shave, though, was quite smooth and not at all uncomfortable. All in all, not terrible.

Looks like I have lots of reading to do around here. I'll get after it until my head hits the desk and forces me to bed. A night of catching up on sleep and detoxing the vodka in my system is probably a good thing. Hope you have a great start to your week!

  2. Haven't been on for a couple of days...so
Fatip Day # 16. Changed to a Feather having had a day off shaving yesterday as was out on a long bike ride. A new feather glided through everything effortlessly. Post shave feel is very good but I don't think any better than Astra, I'll see how long the smooth feeling lasts. Alum test was good.

One other note, the Speick soap is running out, I guess grating it, adding oils and pressing it into a tub makes it go faster. My "fixed" version (a little carrier and lavender oil) works better than the native stick but, Arko will come back as soap once it runs out.

    Razor : Fatip OC
    Blade : Feather
    Soap: Speick
    Balm : Speick
    After shave : Eau Sauvage

I've had fun catching up on all the posts in this thread over the weekend. Have a great day folks.

    Razor: Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: Sputnik
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
    Lather: Stirling Electric Sheep
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue/Musk mix
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Osage Rub

New Orleans is a different town. I went to the hotel gym this morning, and there were young people still up and coming in from their night's activities. I don't know if this is more of a comment about how late they were up or how early I got up.

The shave was fantastic this morning. The Electric Sheep whipped into a great lather and set the stage for an automatic razor. Pretty much BBS with ease this morning. I went with a little menthol kick in some Osage Rub and a mix of Aqua Velva Ice Blue and Musk. It will be an active day at the refinery. I hope everyone has a great day!

Weekends are entirely too short. At least I was able to have a nice relaxing shave to start the week. The AOS cream has been fun too use but I am not sure I would add it to the buy again list. I get just as much peppermint cooling from the Reef Point Tranquility with much more slickness and protection. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of Fine Lavender and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna
    Razor: Schick B1 injector
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
Post: Witch hazel, RazoRock Blue Barbershop aftershave

I agree with Clint - weekends are way too short. Monday mornings are always a challenge. Oh well, guess that's life! The shave was a good one. The Jeeves soap continues to be excellent and I enjoy the RazoRock splash more and more. I've got it scheduled for Wednesday as well. It's pretty cold!

Nice shave overall. Enjoy your day!

Used the Jack Frost for ‘Menthol Monday’ this morning. After a busy weekend, had a nice 3 pass shave. Pulled out a NEW for no particular reason -besides that I didn’t feel like using the pain stick- and am completely smooth. A very uniquely scented soap unlike anything else I own, but a very good performer. This balm always stings a little for 30 seconds or so, but feels good afterwards.
    Have a great day all!

  16. Sounds like a fun trip, Neal. I hear you on the beard- mine is almost completely grey now as well.
All things considered, there are not many better than Astras, imho.
Great pic, Jim. The only time I went to New Orleans, I probably should have hit the hotel gym. I probably gained 10 pounds that week with the great food.
No kidding, Clint, this weekend went by like a blur! A great photo to start the week, however.
Another cool injector, Perry! Glad to hear the splash is working well.
  17. Wow that JR bar looks wicked!
    Beautiful photo, Ken!
    Excellent shot, Jim!
    Amazing shot, Clint!
Great pgoto, Perry! Did you get some of the Blue Barbershop soap to go with the splash ?
Excellent photo, Jason! You can't go wrong with a New!

Thank you, Andrew! I didn't get any of the soap. I'd like to try it and will likely order some when I make the next order from Italian Barber. They're sold out of a lot of products at the moment.

    Italian Barber Amici
Yaqi Mysterious Space (24mm Finest Fan, Frigate Class)
Baxter of California Shave Tonic and ASB

This morning the Cooper MonoBilt proved once again why it is king. Super easy and super smooth. It was one of those shaves where you keep checking to see if you actually have a blade in the razor. I've also been quite impressed with the 7 O'Clock Permasharp Stainless blades from India. To me they are just as sharp and smooth as the Super Platinum and hang out in the top tier along with the finest Russian steel. With only two more shaves left of the Amici I will dedicate myself to finishing it off this week! Lasts but not least the Yaqi Finest fan performed excellently. It had more backbone then the sivertip but not as much as the finest bulb. None of the Yaqi badger brushes that I have tried have has any scritch to them and have only shed a couple of hairs of their first few latherings. Have a great day my friends!
