Before my accident, I was revisiting my first cart shavers and seeing how they did now. I got a good shave off the Trac II and was going to try the pivoting head SensorExcell. Today I returned to that schedule and shaved with the cart.
The Vitos is definitely on its last legs and the Soap Destroyer helped push it along another step closer to doom. In the end, my seat was feeling a little wobbly and insecure so I only did a single pass, diagonally WTG on my face and ATG on my neck. That was enough for the twin-blade cart to render a DFS.
I wanted something cheerful and different for the finish, so I went with a pure lavender balm. It topped off a pleasant shave.
My conclusion: with a good lather created by a quality brush from quality soap, and with proper attention to riding the cap, applying light pressure, and skin stretching, I can get a perfectly adequate shave from a twin-blade cart. Whether the head pivots or not doesn't matter. I don’t see how another one to three blades in the cart is going to make the shave any closer, and I still object to the waste inherent in the disposable plastic, but I can see myself using this in future as part of an air travel setup. A Trac II or SensorExcell with a couple carts, a stick of Arko, a synthetic brush and a small spritz tube of witch hazel would give a good, compact TSA-friendly kit.
