Soap - Marvy
Brush - Marvy
Post - Alum, Styptic
Well, upon lathering the Marvy again I was about to claim that witchcraft was involved. The initial load of the brush and lather on the face produced a decent lather. Peaky, not as thick or cushy as a Stirling or something along that lines, but better than I could hope for. The slickness was, well, average, which seems to be the best Marvy can do. I chose the Rapira setup again to give the soap a challenge. Definitely not the smoothest razor even with a Rapira blade in it.
First WTG pass seemed to go well. Nice effectiveness. A bit on the rough side but nothing outrageous. The lather even lasted until the end of the pass! Wow! There's that potential for witchcraft being involved again. Second lather wasn't quite as nice and the XTG pass was even less nice. Finished that pass and some touch ups and still had a bit of lather left for the whole thing. The slickness in the face of the el cheapo razor showed its weakness, however, with 5 visible nicks. I cleaned up, grabbed the alum and found my entire face/neck very warm with the 5 nicks firing off and another 4 spots hitting me hard too. No blood on those but obviously close. Yeah, Marvy, you may have looked better but you didn't provide the necessary slickness for that under achieving razor.
The scent has partially returned as I've lathered the puck a couple of times now. I described it as "moldy" last night. I can't do much better than that other than to say "chemical smell". Not harsh, but it's a scent I remember well and still dislike a whole lot. We may retire the Marvy soap and brush back to storage for another MAYhem. It was fun to play with again though.
Hope your weekend is off to a fantastic start!
