Today’s was a really great shave, across the board. Nearly Epic level performance from the MMOC, literally one neck weeper shy of perfection. I have, seriously, like six hairs in a one inch patch on my neck that are prone to weepers if I’m not careful. I know exactly which six. Today was only one of them.

I struggle daily with my brush collecting addiction, so when I saw this BLK2 come up on a BST, my brain deduced that since I already have an 8 and a 12, if I bought this 2 that I didn’t even really want, all I would need is a 4, and then I would have a complete set. So now I have a 2, which makes hunting down a 4 a foregone conclusion. The surprise, is that the 2 is a Pure grade brush. The only other Pure brushes I own are Simpson, and I find them to be good brushes, in their own way. This Kent blows them out of the water, both in backbone and softness. It is nearly indistinguishable from the H8 in Best. This is a really cool brush, and I’m glad I picked it up.

One more use of the Soapy Science, and I really have it dialed in. This stuff is simply fantastic soap. It makes such shiny, goopy, slick lather. The residual slickness is as good as anything in my den, as is the post shave; just fantastic. It is a soap that likes a fair amount of water, but you can break it, and make it fade out on you. It’s taking me a little more time to get it where I want it, but I’m still laying that on me, and my only having had a handful of shaves with it. This is really good soap, and I am happy for Hannah. FYI - She is working on some new scents, and selling tubs of “mystery test scent” for $12.31. I picked one up, cause who doesn’t like a surprise?

Ok soooo this morning i was sitting here having a coffee (she was still sleeping) wondering what kind of Mayhem razor i could build for todays shave . After a 20 minute staredown with a butterknife , I whipped out the grinder and lopped off the handle . Yes i did ! After soldering a gem ss blade on I now have my own version of the Painstick. Heres to hoping it works...

On a side note...i was informed that these will be my choice of utensils for awhile. Notice there is no knife as I'm banned from butterknives, steakknives, plastic knives as of today. HAPPY MAYHEM guys!

Thank you, Clint. The storm has been much of nothing here. Rough surf but little wind and not much rain. We leave to come home tomorrow. It's been a good getaway.

Paul, I agree about TSD aftershaves. They are excellent quality. Lots of scents available as well as potent menthol additive options. I have really liked the TSD aftershaves I've used.

Well, I am not sure how to respond to this one, Patrick. Honestly, the stunt shave takes a back seat to risk you must have taken with SWMBO. Lopping the blade (?) of a butter knife off to make a razor is a sure way to find some trouble in this household. You may have missed the look Mrs @Drygulch gave him (I think it was last MAYhem), but my guess is this would rival that one. @BaylorGator, is there a Shavey nomination in here somewhere?

I broke a butterknife around easter trying to break a piece off a frozen chocolate bunny. They also make great screwdrivers or prybars in a pinch.

    Wow...just wow.
Yup, if I purposely ruined utensils to make a razor, she might actually file papers AFTER having me committed...

Edit: Just say your last email saying it was an already broken knife, Patrick...sanity reigns (not with that razor, though)!

I agree. Patrick @9nein9 has blended a desire to push the boundaries of MAYhem with the mechanical and technical ability to actually create some WFDs (Weapons of Face Destruction).
Randy @BaylorGator? Best engineered Mayhem weapons? Best/worst use of mechanical technology to inflict harm? Other ideas?

Adam already has a lifetime achievement award in these areas...

Good to see you got my back. Since she was sleeping and didnt hear the grinder , I can safely say it was the broken knife. Just hope I dont talk in my sleep lol

I havent test driven it yet but I'm hoping I out duel this creation. Had to take my daughter to dance class and figured it may scare the kids if i showed up bleeding . 1 hour till showdown . Will post my shave later . Any tips on using a painstick? Ive seen one but never used one before . Lol

That would potentially save it for me. Now, she would still not be happy about me attaching a blade to it, but after the bolt razor, it would be an improvement.

She tends to do alot of eye rolling when I start building something. Probably her eyes just getting dry I'm assuming.

Well, I hinted at this shave at the beginning and finally worked up the courage to try it out. A tool for scoring bread dough called a lame fitted with the blade it came with, a Super Max Blue Diamond from India. I used my 30 Day Crew LE brush to keep it in the family, and Tabac, well, just because. This tool flexes the blade in the opposite direction than a DE does, which causes a smaller amount of blade to make contact with the skin. It does however keep the corners away which helps some. It takes forever to do a pass, not only because of the reduced blade contact, but also the overall awkwardness of the thing. The blade is not the sharpest or smoothest, and the amount of chatter is a little unnerving. As a result I did a 2 pass shave that was barely socially acceptable, and gave up to finish with a super speed. I did have a couple of weepers, and since I did not completely wash the thing between the last time I made bread and my shave, I may have (if possible), given myself a blood borne yeast infection. Time will tell. At any rate, that's my contribution to the MAYhem. One month of rest to get ready for Cinco de Julio.
