MAYhem 2018!!!!! May 30 Razor - Fatip Piccolo Blade - (3) Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic Post - Alum My weekend is here! Although I do have two doctors to see in the next two days. We'll see how all that goes. In the meantime I went back for one more shave on the Fatip with Sharp Star using Jeeves Bay Rum and the big Stirling synthetic. I tried to back of some on the brush loading as this brush can hold enough to wash a battleship with. Great lather, two full passes and touch ups and the near-BBS finish is awesome. If I were ever to go minimalist, the Fatip is a razor high on the list for my daily shaver. Fantastic feel and effectiveness and all it requires is to pay attention. Nice!
The prison shiv will make an appearance next week. Rightfully so last years presenters are returning. I think her enthusiasm is perfect for the Shaveys.
Just wanted to stop by and give an update on my focus. Rockwell 6c Polsilver SI Various brushes Cella Thayer's Medicated Witchhazel Alternating, Spieck AS splash and William's Aqua Velva Been getting tremendously great BBS shaves from this setup. I'm going through my den and boxing up products which currently don't work for me and organizing the stuff which does. The setup before this with the Gillette Heavy and Rapira Platinum Lux was pretty incredible. Now I have two very sold setups, will probably move on to trying to dial in another set up tomorrow or the next day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MAYhem ? Yup, kinda. Proraso Green PS soap Route 66 Barbershop Hop Omega #20248 27MM boar Suribachi & cool water '59 Fat Boy E-4 on nine Feather Hi Stainless blade Osage Rub, Pinaud Clubman Felt like a classic Barbershop shave this evening. Wasn't going to try another with the used up blade from last so I gathered several of my favorites. Splashed my face with cool water and got my smear on with the menthol preshave. Destroyer Class 27mm Omega PRO model banded boar did short work loading a slightly soused long ignored puck. At one time a wide open Gillette 195 and Japan's finest blade would have been intimidating. These days other razors have to deliver this level or be called up short. Three passes + enough lather for the corners and edges scored a DFS or better, no nicks or errors. After a cool water rinse an application of more menthol including a scalp massage. Finished with classic barbershop AS. AHhhh. Good Shaves Y'all!

May 31, 2018 Wolfman SS WR1 OC .61 Blade Gap Feather Simpson CH2 Synthetic Fine Italian Citrus Up and moving early this morning. I am leading a new consulting contract for the remainder of the year that starts in earnest today. Need to look and feel good so I decided to use a proven lineup. The "Soap Destroyer" ate its fill of Italian Citrus and whipped up a mountain of rich slick lather. Two passes and touch ups along my jawline and lower neck just missed the baby which is more than good enough. A splash of the matching Fine Italian Citrus AS and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Thursday. May 2018 Recap During the month, I continued my year long focus to deplete my soap inventory and to enjoy a variety of hardware and software. I did complete the AOS Peppermint Cream. While I enjoyed the cream, it is not one I would purchase. I just like shaving soaps more than creams. I still have 2 other scents that were gifts from my wife to get through in the future. On the razor front, I spent time with my neglected razors and remembered why I enjoyed them in the past. As usual the big take away for the month was the friendship exhibited by the members. I enjoyed following the progress of the newer members. I was impressed by the lengths some went to ramp up the Mayhem. A fun month for sure. I look forward to seeing you all participate in June.
Last day of MAYhem. Last day to nominate folks. Last day to nominate yourself for the PIFs awards at the end. Plenty of room for newbies, those on the sidelines, and new open blade shavers. Stop by the Shavey thread and post your nominations before time is up.
Best wishes. I hope they can find the root cause and come up with a solution quickly. It's gotta be miserable...
What plate have you settled on with your Rockwell 6c? I ran my Rockwell 6s up and down the scale and finally decided plate #3 gave me a comfortable balance between efficiency and lack of irritation.
