Fresh off the USPS truck - with thanks to JoAnna @Queen of Blades for throwing a raffle, and @cliffb599 for donating the prize! I tried one of these some time back in a pass-around. It's been on my Watch List since then. The razor is very nice. Handsome gold plating fully intact. The adjuster works flawlessly. I don't have many cased razors so that's a bonus. The included pack even contains 2 vintage blades!
Could it be a single edge handle from a GEM or whatever (don't really know my SE's) with a DE head on it?? Ive never seen a DE like that
I respectfully disagree, due to most SE are male threaded and most DE are female threaded. The agree with @jmudrick that it may be an Emir, Apollo, Sonnal or at least really nice clone.
Maybe it is along that line that Risegrooming introduced its Aftershave Cooling Balm by writing "New....Trusted Since the'50's
Ok I’m Officially Jealous. But on the other Hand. It’s great you took your two Sons with you. To witness that great purchase of history. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My oldest son, 15, purchased his first razor...a Fatboy. He has a superspeed from @wchnu, but this one he spent his money on. Justin
Agreed. It seems to me that that handle looks a lot like the Merkur "1904" that @Queen of Blades offered in the recent raffle:
From the first photos I thought Emir but now I see what Jorge means, head looks kinda funky, more likely a clone.
Thank you for the respect @Enrico but I really don't deserve it! I have no clue about SE's and was really putting in my two cents so I could watch other people discuss it! Haha. I didnt know that about the threading either so you're teaching already!
You were being kind enough to try to share you thoughts (right or wrong) and I aways try to be respectful. It's hard to be instructive if the recipient feels disrespected. I've learned alot hanging out here.
I picked up a jug of vintage English Leather All Purpose Lotion. Not a bottle, a jug... You're reading that box correctly - 16 ozs. Here it is with some other sizes for comparison. I've never noticed that English Leather came as an "All-Purpose Lotion". I've only seen and acquired their aftershaves and colognes. Anyhow, it's one big (full) jug of original formula English Leather with a nice wooden box and it only cost me $20. It makes a nice addition to my English Leather collection of products and decanters.
