My order should be here in a few days. I'm looking forward to trying it. I noticed a few whiskers this morning, so it might be a good time to use it when I have a few more whiskers.

Thank you, but all I have done to this one was to clean it with gun oil and hone it. I had decided to leave the patina alone, since it’s such an old razor and the risk of the etch disappearing further. I have a lot more to learn on restoration before I will even consider it on this one. And that is a very nice Bartmann set.
Yes. I managed to find a backup tub of the PAA "11235" shave soap that will allow me to keep this set intact for a while. It is not easy finding good + color matching products. In this case the whole setup is top-shelf.
Tonight's shave was with a Boston/Germany made razor. It was a silky smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Zero issues. This razor is definitely spot on, with everything. Razor- Dame Stoodard & Kendal, Boston. Germany. Brush- JR#262 Ebony/Birdseye Maple. WD Silvertip. This is a beauty to look at, and to shave with. Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy Aftershave- Vintage Avon Brisk Spice.

Decent blade feel in the upper settings but still relatively smooth with very good audible feedback. Good feel and weight while having a very good balance from top to bottom. A BBS finish in 3 passes and not a single nic, cut or weeper to speak of. Good beginning for the QShave/Weishi Parthenon. Have a great evening and shaves Gents....

Just the Basics June/Just for Fun June - take your pick June 4 Razor - Gillette Tech Blade - (1) Soap - Van Der Hagen Deluxe Brush - VDH Boar Post - Alum, AV Musk (Tuesday morning) After three shaves on the VDH razor it's time to stay basic and go classic. The Gillette Tech is up and I'm matching it to the Treet Double Edge blade, better known as the Black Beauty. It is, of course, a carbon blade and a very nice one at that. I'm moving from the Luxury VDH soap to the Deluxe and using the VDH boar tonight. The brush in the picture is the brand new brush. I actually used mine that is 4 years old and came with my first puck of VDH Deluxe soap. I'm sure that my three days figuring out the Luxury soap helped in lathering this one so quickly, but I remember the Deluxe as always being easy to load and lather. Added a little water, loaded in the bowl and got a very nice and slick lather. It feels a touch slicker than the Luxury but, again, that may be my prejudice from having used the Deluxe before. To get the best shave with the Treet carbon blade you need to take your time and enjoy the experience. It's a bit noisy with a nice tactile feel, but smooth. It isn't as sharp as a stainless edge but it's sharp for a carbon. Give it three full passes and just enjoy the zen and you end up with a very nice DFS, which is what I did. I'm all set for the rest of the evening and I'll look great in the morning as well. I've been a bit lax on responses and such the past few days but have been getting on a new diet and medication regimen. I think I'm about set and that should give me time and energy to dive back in as the summer starts around here. I'll get caught up and we'll throw a shenanigan or two in the way as well! Hope your week got off to a good start today.
