The other day I received this Gillette Aristocrat case from @John Ruschmeyer that needed the bottom part re-lined because there wasn't any. I used a picture from @mr-razor, but it didn't show the case without the razor. It helped some, but I did what you would call a little poetic license to make it. I originally wanted to use foam, but it would have involved more work, so I used cardboard, courtesy of USPS, to make it. The first pic showing pieces I cut up to stack on top of each other and outer edge. I used my Aristocrat and a blade bank for reference.......... Second pic showing all the pieces glued together, with a few more extra strips. All parts I used Elmer's glue and brushed all over to stiffen the cardboard when dry.......... Third pic making sure everything fit nice in the case.......... Fourth pic showing it lined with a purple-like felt and installed in the case.......... I decided to also make up a copy of the instruction sheet to add to the case.......... Final pic showing the case complete using my '48-'50 Aristocrat, a blade bank from my Bostonian and instruction sheet..........
That looks amazingly well ... I think the only way to look any better would be if you were able to get some of that purple satin they used in the top. But really ... WOW, great job!
I noticed that on cases, the bottom is more of a felt or cotton feel to them. The basic problem is matching the exact color for them. The top ones can be matched a little better as the satin colors are more available.
