I can understand why. What do you think about the Chevalier now that you are holding it? For some reason I thought it would be a little bigger... surprised me a little. But it is gorgeous and very fun to use - one that will never leave.
It went right back in the wax paper and box...it has some presence to it. Heft and size, I did expect it to be heavier. Hoping to give a test shave tonight or tomorrow! Will report!
My wife and I stopped by an antique store yesterday, in a town about 40 minutes from our home. We stop by there every time we get up that way together. Anyways I picked these up. The one between the boxes is a King Razor Manufacturing Co “silver king”. It has fancy scales, and needs little clean up. All The others need more work but they were only $2 each. They are as follows. Top middle: Fram 92 Bottom middle: Geneva Cutlery Far right top to bottom George wostenholm and sons pipe razor Joseph Elliot celebrated razor J R Torrey And another GEORGE wostenholm pipe razor. None of the boxes are original to the razors. The one box is interesting as it’s a 2 razor box marked WM Greaves & Sons Sheaf Works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great stop!!! They all look in great shape and the deal was excellent. The Joseph Elliott’s shape is a favorite, and need a cool solution for the wedge end that creates a save. And two Pipe razors - very cool. Tom
That Elliot looks awesome! It will be a show stopper once restored! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks, yeah I think the Elliott is my favorite of the bunch as well. I’ve got to find a way to save those scales.
Thanks, sometimes your at the right place at the right time. They are going to keep me busy for some time, getting them back in order.
Here is a recent addition to my collection...have not shaved with it yet. VINTAGE LOUPER FLAMME SOLINGEN TOP STRAIGHT 6/8" RAZOR Made by the former Louis Perlman factory in Solingen Germany. The blade width is 6/8”, 1/1 full hollow ground.
That's a Beauty. It would add nicely to The Pimp Stick thread. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/pimp-sticks-on-parade.58764/ ..
