Took Ralf Aust for its first spin, what a beauty. What a fantastic shave! Trying to branch out a bit so I popped into the store and picked up some "Cremo". Not too bad overall but the weak lathering and lack of cushion kinda spoil it. Still a very nice performer in terms of protection... Ralf Aust Spanish Point Solingen Blackwood scales Cremo Stirling Blu AS Definitely my best shave to date, 3 months in. Lovin' ever minute! I mean shave ;-) Best, John Happy B-Day! Nice Score on That Dovo Mike!

Saturday Straights' Shave Proraso Pre Shave Arko Extra Performance Jayaruh #291 Joseph Elliot 6/8 Wedge CWR Thayer's Peach WH Lucky Tiger I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Arko Extra Performance Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #291 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Joseph Elliot 6/8 Wedge Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... This Joseph Elliot 6/8 wedge is a straight from the first half of the 1800s, and it is one of my favorite straights. I love it. It is such a smooth, easy shaver.

What a great shave I had this morning with my Henry Sears and Son razor! I touched this one up last week and was treated to one of the smoothest and easiest SR shaves I ever had! I could have stopped after the first pass, but did a second pass and ended up BBS. It cut effortlessly through the whiskers and was probably my best SR shave ever. I was done in 10 minutes with zero irritation and zero burn from the aftershave. I’ve always gotten good shaves from the Henry Sears, but I must have done something differently with the touch up this time. I find this razor to be a soft steel, with touch ups always making significant impacts. I should focus more on this razor and my honing techniques as slight changes make for significant improvements.
Special Father’s Day weekend shave... using my daughter’s straight razor. She came home last week from college and it is always a pleasure to have her in the house. Time for a little touch up on her straight, and she let me take it for a test drive. Hy.
