Well I guess it's time to post my SOTD and tell everyone what I chose and how it went. I was so wanting to use my new brush by our famous brush maker Jayaruh, but alas it isn't due to arrive till tomorrow. Then I remembered a razor that I don't use much and decided to break it out for my Birthday and shave with it. It's a razor that I enjoy using from time to time but is not part of any rotation that I currently use. One because I'm not very proficient with it, second it takes a bit longer to shave with it. Due to some friends on here I am able to use it and do a fairly good job. So here is my SOTD, Birthday shave for June 27th 2018!

    SOTD June 27th, 2018

    Pre: Hot towel, Cube preshave
    Razor: Antoni Tadross (SR)
Brush: TGN Finest Badger in Olivewood Handle
Soap:How To Grow A Moustache - Lo Haiku Limited Eddition
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum, The Veg

Today was a special shave for me, I didn't have to rush and had all the time in the world to make it as nice as I could. I started out with a cool shower and washed my face well in preparation for my shave. I then bloomed my soap and soaked my brush to get it ready for the shave. While the were blooming and soaking I wiped off my razor and stropped it preparation. I then took a hot damp towel and and put it on my face to get my whiskers ready to be shaven off. I whipped up my soap in my Crown King Scuttle and applied The Cube preshave to my face. I applied the warm lather to my face and prepared to shave. I did my first pass WTG, carefully and slowly paying close attention to my angles, knowing I didn't have to rush this shave. Next I went XTG, doing the same thing being careful with the razor. Lastly I just did minimal touching up to get a near BBS shave. I guess I could have tried for BBS but this shave was to enjoy not to try and get BBS. I finished with no weepers and my face felt very smooth. I cleaned up my SR and left it dry on a clean dry towel, the I washed my brush out admiring Clint 64's work. I rinsed my face with cold water and felt the smoothness again. I finished off with my alum block and just got a little tingle in some places telling me I had done a good job. Rinsing my face just one more time and patting it dry I applied the Lilac Vegital aftershave and got a little tingle from it as well. All in all it was a great shave no matter what day it is and I enjoyed every second of it. I must admit I had forgotten how nice a shave with my SR could be I might have to use it more often.

And that Gentilemen was my Birthday Shave of 2018, thanks to some friends on here that made it possible. I haven't forgotten you!

P.S. This is where it all began for me over Two years ago. Thank you all!

Wow the brush and the razor are tempting enough but in pictures like this my willpower is truly tested.

Fresh blade for the MMOC and decided I should work toward a satisfactory one pass morning shave. I've been doing two pass shaves for a few months but with the MMOC on one day's growth I've been easily getting a DFS in a single pass, so figured adding some ATG work on residual lather would get near BBS, and indeed that was no problem this morning. The moustache area can be a little tricky with the MMOC/Clog-Pruf head but I've got the recommended sideways sweep down pretty well now, I just skip the awkward WTG entirely.[IMG][IMG]

First rate shave Jim. Can you make a comparison between the B&M and MdC Fougère?

Just for Fun with the Basics June!

    June 27

    Razor - 1947 Gillette Superspeed
Blade - Generic Personna Red (1)
    Soap - VDH Deluxe
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Using a more "basic" setup for some fun tonight. The '47 SS which is a true classic in my book along with the generic Personna blade. Semogue 620 boar with VDH Deluxe - yep - pretty basic stuff. The soap really lathered well and very easily. I'm still much better with the Deluxe than the Luxury from VDH but that's familiarity from using it so long before. I had a two pass with touch up DFS shave with this setup. A couple of very minor nicks but I think that was a pressure thing. I rushed a bit since I'm probably driving some tonight. I'm off the next three days so going to try to pick up a few extra bucks in the late night hours. Just call me a vampire.

Tonight's picture features the patent drawing for the A.J. Rollert barber's chair, patented in 1891. I'm thinking this might make a good TV chair if only I had the real thing. Hope you had a great day and have an even better tomorrow!

A very cool looking razor, Keith. The scales look fantastic, and is that some sort of pattern on the blade? I couldn’t tell.
Awesome combo, Jim. You have a number of the Reserve soaps and splashes as I recall. Do you have a favourite of each yet?
    Great write-up, and Happy Birthday!
Those are some very neat prints you’ve shown the last few days, Neal, Congrats! The bottles of Reserve AS have a somewhat similar set of vintage patents as well.

Thank you, Jason! As far as a favorite, it's a toss up between Spice and Fern. Actually, I really like them all. When your no buy is over I think you'll want to add the Reserve Fern.
