Okay, yeah, so I've officially developed S.A.D. — Soap Acquisition Disorder — to complement my Razor and Blade A.D. When I get paid next week, I plan to splurge what I can on a tub/tin each of Oleo duck fat and Dr. Jon's vegan base soap. Dr' Jon's released its last batch of Arctic Hydra for a while, so I want to grab up a tin of that before it runs out as I don't know when or if they'll make more. The used tin I was PIFed is still good for many shaves, especially as I tend to rotate my soaps and creams to extend their longevity, but it never hurts to stock up. I also want to try Dr. Jon's 1803 soap, which is inspired by Ohio (my home state). As for Oleo, I've heard good things about their duck tallow soaps, and I want to try the Very Cherry and Windy City Barbershop varieties. Those should, if gotten along with the Dr. Jon's, have me in shave soaps for a good long while before I have to think about replenishing my overall stock. As it is, I presently have Tabac, Stirling Scots Pine Sheep, Van Der Hagen Deluxe, Arctic Hydra, and a couple tubs of Taylor of Old Bond Street to work through, as well as a can of Gillette Barbershop Fresh foam. The one regret I have is that I never got those Russian soaps I won in a recent PIF. The guy who started the thread seems to have disappeared and I never heard back from him. I hope he's okay.
S.A.D. can get serious! Tons of talented artisans out there, it is similar to the (very whack) game Pokémon "gotta catch em all" hahaha. Half the fun is experimenting and trying new and different gear IMO.
It’s not a disorder unless it causes a problem with the wallet or if it all falls out when you open the closet.
That’s not too bad at all, that’s just a nice supply. You need a nice size cabinet and it won’t look like so much.
