Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

  1. As it turns out, it worked out OK for everybody. Americans are just like you guys, only way more deplorable.
  2. Is mixing chemicals together whilst seated in a big blue van, with a named Germano, the same thing as chemical engineering?

    (asking for a friend)
  3. Not for some of us...:)
  4. I know all the numbers. Those are letters, dude. No idea what they mean. Just looks edgy, in a second century way.
  5. July 2018

    July 3

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

This shave should look familiar. I got it in just before midnight after a couple of Lyft runs. Due to the lateness I decided to just use the gear from last night. It worked perfectly then, and it did again. Hard to beat a classic like Tabac and that 1918 is a beast......but a kind and benevolent beast when you keep your eye on it. Great finish to a rather long day.

It's officially the 4th! That means one more day until the popsicle sticks arrive! Hope you have a great holiday!!

  6. 19 pages in 3 days...yeesh, 30DC!
High praise indeed for the soap, Jim. Awesome Ranger Tech, btw!
No Stirling menthols yet, Andrew. Palmolive Menthol or Sudsy Soapery are my two most mentholated soaps. Both stronger than Proraso Green.
    Awesome Ranger Tech, part deux!
Fantastic photo, Bruce. Nacets are a personal favourite!
Great stuff, Rick. Hope your daughter is doing well, and the kids are getting some great grandpa time!
Finally. Missed those pics. All is quiet in the Rockies here as well.
Congrats, Patrick! Great family shot as well!
    Another stunning brush, Mark!
  7. Thanks Jason!
  8. Nope, but that could be because I'm in England.

Best shave so far. Increased the angle ever so slightly to make it steeper. Mainly because the cap was smearing the shaving cream around letting me know it was to shallow an angle, although, I did learn that smearing the shaving foam on the cap can give you some slipperiness that proves useful especially on the neck. There's still a little roughness to the touch around the jaw, but will concentrate on that more fully with tomorrow's shave. No burn with the alum block.

Happy 4th July to all you over the pond!
  10. Bit of skin stretching around the jaw may help. Works for me .
  11. I do as much as I can. I need to modify the angle of my attack now. Thanks for the tip.
  12. The hustle of Phnom Penh has given way to pretty tranquil Kampot. You can kinda see the mountains that overlook the town and where sits the Bokor Hill Station, a resort built for the French colonials using Khmer and Vietnamese prison and corvee labor, a huge effort which cost hundreds of lives. I'll get up to Bokor later in the trip. A lot more tourists here than there used to be but it's still a pleasure.

A buddy has a BBQ joint across the river, that's where I'll be for dinner, and I skipped lunch accordingly. Breakfast was soup with hand pulled noodles and homemade pork dumplings. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
  13. Missed this one. Great pic!!

Just to show off a bit...... This dusty looking beauty came in the mail today! Auto Strop A2. I expect it will shave as good as the A1. We will find out for....WILLIAMS WEDNESDAY.

Working another 6 day week with a mix of day and nights. Can not keep up. Grrrrrrr.
  14. After what 242 years...... I think we are all over that. Shave away.....
  15. That is a coincidence. Happy Birthday to your wife. I hope you have a great day Andrew.

  16. Mercì Monsieur.
  17. Great shave, Charlie! Thanks for posting the videos of the processes of making blades & cartridges. I've seen the one for DE blades (several times ;)), but not the one for carts. What amazes me, is how many blades they make in such a short timeframe, you'd think they would outpace the demand.

Happy 4th of July - enjoy the day at the cookout!
  18. Great views. Again with the food pictures. I was hungry before but I am starving now. :)
  19. What a beautiful family you have, Patrick!! I wish your daughter all the success that life can offer...and your wallet all the payments it can make! ;)
    Excellent shave setup, too!
  20. Very patriotic theme, Mark! I love the brush!! :)
