Nice picture, Jim! You're right, tough to beat nice, easy shaves. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I switch hands with a Straight, but don't know of many folks who do it with a DE. I also don't do a lot of skin stretching with the DE like I do with the straight, as I find a get more than an adequate shave with a DE with minimal skin stretching. I did not find this to be the case early on, though. You have already seen good progress so far. What you will find is that your shave gets better and better over time when you stick to the basics. You can't really explain why it's just an intuitive improvement that happens over time, improving pressure, angle, etc. I'd stick with what you are doing and give it time. You are on the right track and seeing good results so far.
These two statements may or may not be related. (Said from one weird shave dude to another, brother!)
Well done, Simon! The flatter, the better. Wet lather is also a good thing - that's when slickness comes into the picture. Switching hands? Nah. I've tried it, but it just felt awkward. I'm sure I could get the hang of it eventually, but found that I don't need to. There are videos where some guys switch up, and that's completely fine. If you can pull it off, go for it! It comes down to whatever you're comfortable with, and gives you the best results.
Thank you guys. Andrew, the SE-G is the perfect razor to keep me humble. It seems to punish my smallest mistakes more than any other razor I own.
July Focus Same two leading roles this month: Tallow Williams 2011 Mühle R41 loaded with the ever popular Personna 74 Tungsten, making its umpteenth appearance. Guest stars for today's episode: Morris & Forndran Polo 2, sporting its Finest Fur" and, directly from the Spanish stage: Myrsol Emulsion (cue applause) Prologue Mr. Williams and Mr. Morris & Forndran took at short, warm bath (separately of course) Myrsol applied itself to the beard area. ~~~~~~ Act I, scene i M&F (as he likes to be called) loaded up with the fatty, moist Mr. Williams, who, as usual, appeared to be rather soused. Aside: this is an ongoing issue, which has been brought up with Mr. Williams' agent. scene ii M&F, in a calm and relaxed manner, worked Mr. Williams thoroughly all over the stage. (exit M&F) scene iii (Enter R41) With delicate ease, R41 moved from upstage right to downstage right; repeating this motion as he worked from stage right to stage left. Amazingly, R41 was able to maintain a curious angle which almost appeared to the audience as if he were floating on his head! (thunderous applause) (cue water) Curtain ~~~~~ Intermission ~~~~~~ Act II, scene i After M&F circumnavigates the stage, suddenly and without warning, he unloads his entire supply of Mr. Williams! Pirouetting and with gay abandon, M&F floods the entire stage. (The audience goes berserk) scene ii R41's makes his second and FINAL appearance for this morning's production. (It was decided by the producer and director, that this show has been dragging too long and has all too often, left the audience bloodied and battered. In the interest of quality entertainment, the show's running time was shortened by 1/3) R41 was choosy in his stage movement, while still maintaining that unique style of his, he moved around the stage like Barishnikov, or even, if it may be said, Nureyev. The audience is standing, cheering, calling for more! But the curtain is pulled. ~~~~~ Epiloge Mr Alum is disappointed that he was only able to elicit a 1 Mr. Myrsol cleaned up the stage. Lights
Duuuude...you have entirely too much time on your hands....and imagination beyond belief.... What an excellent and fun post today, Joseph!! You certainly have a gift for telling a story. Congrats on a great shave, post and photo! Enjoy the day!
