I am looking at two Oleo duck-based tallow soaps: Very Cherry and Windy City Barbershop. I can only get one at present, and I'll get the other another time. But which one? Choices! AAAARGH!!! P.S. I just ordered a tin of Dr. Jon's Arctic Hydra, although I still have half a tin of the same scent that was PIFed to me a while back. As it's the last batch for a while as of 2018, I couldn't resist the chance to grab up a whole one. Alas, the 1803 scent, which I had also planned to buy, is sold out. D'oh!
Are either of those scents in the Canard base ? I have Empire in the Canard base and it is a top tier soap for sure.
Just looked it up, both are in the Canard base. You can't go wrong with either, but I would go with the cherry as I tend to like fruity scents more then barbershop type scents. EDIT: fixed typo
Yeah, both are canard (duck) base, so it comes down to which scent I should get first. I can only get one this week. I'm fond of fruit scents too, cherry being one, and almond. Ooh! I wonder if the maker could make a combination almond-black-cherry! Now THAT would be an interesting blend!
My suggestion would be-depends on the season. Very Cherry for spring/summer; Barbershop for fall/winter.
I lean toward Barbershop, but i do like almond cherry scents like Cella, too. If you plan to use it right away, I’d say go for cherry then get barbershop when the cooler weather starts.
Alrighty, I went ahead and sent away for the Very Cherry along with its post-shave balm counterpart. Should be a good summer soap to complement my Arctic Hydra from Dr. Jon's. Thanks, everyone, for the input!
I was not a fan of their Windy City babershop scent at all, hard to describe it was just really strange kind of metal smell. Not a traditional barbershop at all. I believe they do list steel and gunpowder in the scent notes. Some people love it though. Their El Caballero however I really enjoy. I think I will shave with that tonight. Their canard soaps perform excellently. I was thinking of trying their cherry.
