  1. Great Minds....I shaved with my A1 tonight aswell....only our blade choices were different....Did you hone that blade before stropping? Yeah Maan, his photo is chocked full of Vintage Shaving Goodness!!! I can't help but smile when I look at it!

I used a stainless GEM blade tonight, just to see how it would behave....It was great....it really surprised me! I'm thinkng these Auto-Strops might be a blade equilizer! I remember how smooth that Feather blade shaved on your first A1 shave....Maybe I'm gonna love all SE blades with this one.....Well.....at least shave quality blades....ha,ha!

And a Big 10-4 on the Special Reserve....probably Indiana Jone's favorite AS... It's certainly one of mine...And my favorite Leather Frag....Better than Chanels and Creeds costing twenty times as much......IMHHO...

Oh Yeah, congrats on the PAL Super Score! I know those are gonna be great in that A1! They are like the Razor Equilizing Blade...}8^))
  2. I did not even strop the blade. Just put it in and went to work. I will strop before next shave. The PALs should be really great! 30 should last me a few minutes.

  3. Wow....now thats a testament to Auto Strops Quality Control....
They turned out a blade that is quaranteed sharp enough from the factory, to give a great shave over 100 years later!!!!!
This whole Auto Shop thing is killing me...what a great company!
  4. The Auto Strop is up there with my top lather catchers....

I have just completed my 5th AC/ SE shave this week all with different Razors. They have all been good Shaves because I really think I have acquired that lightness of touch that is needed to Shave properly with these Razors.
The Budget Hawk used today provided a very satisfying Shave, with a great close finish.

  6. Which patent are you after? Any numbers on the razors or the packaging?

The Williams Mug Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Ever-Ready 200T brush. I did two passes with the Schick M2 Razor with a Vintage PAL blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

First use of an OSP soap and it's right up my street. Everything you need in a soap and then some.
The scent profile is also excellent, heavy on the bay, with the rum coming through in the background.
I'm now looking for a suitable splash to go with it.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

  14. Are you callng the Auto Strop a Lather Catcher or just comparing it to your top Lather Catchers?

  15. We are talking about the GEM Feather Weight, mine doesn't have any numbers on it anywhere....Just says "GEM Razor". I don't know....there might not even be a patent...I believe it was first released in 1949 but we know it was around in 1950.

Any info you have would be helpful...This one seems to be flying under the radar...lol

  16. This is another one like the Feather Weight that doesn't get the respect that it deserves. I think it's a wonderful shaver and I love the 'Push Button' mechanism...Can't stop clicking it!! I know....I'm easily amused...lol!
This one deserves its own week too, ha,ha....Too many Great Razors...not enough weeks! Maybe we just need a post WWII SE week....But I don't know if I can stay away from my Injectors and Lather Catcher for a WHOLE WEEK
