July 15 - Well THAT weekend went by fast

    Razor - Soviet Mladost II
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Russian "Start" Cream
Brush - Russian supremely sucky super shedder boar thingy
    Post - Alum

I had originally promised a three day run on this setup in honor of the Meetup but broke that promise last night by trying out the Blood on Steel soap. Just having the Limited Edition soap and a Limited Edition 30DC brush in the same house demanded it. But, in the spirit of detente and goodwill toward the masses, I did go back to the Russian setup for tonight. This, in spite of having a few new Stirling soaps in the house as well since yesterday. Yes, I'm twitching a bit.

I nearly decided to avoid the brush tonight given how much it shed on Friday but it seemed a bit more stable as I soaked it and played with it a bit. So, another lather with it from the Start Cream. I have to say, if I can get the quality of lather from this cream that the sucky super shedder produces, I'm thinking a better brush would make things very nice. I"ll have to try it sometime. For tonight, two passes, some touch up, DFS in the house, alum just a tad warm thanks to the Mladost and its Soviet enginners, and I'm set for a new week.

As the meetup ended we hit the halfway mark in July. Keep going with all of those great shaves and all the shenanigans! It's been a fun mid-summer so far and it's just going to get better. Here's your two week warning for August - as usual it will be Adjustable August! Get those adjustable razors of all types ready to go if you want to play along with the theme! Have a great start to your week, and for the first time in a very long time - Monday will be Monday for me!

The soap was a very good performer lathers easily, nice slick feel, and a scent that mrs 76 likes also. The shave was very good overall, even with a handful of small nicks most likely due to spending most of my den time on the dark side and just not having the best of skills with a de, the Russian steel did still provide a smooth close shave with two passes.

  11. Beginning week 5 with the MMOC. Again struck by how much better the first shave is than the third. I guess the head shave is simply way more demanding than just the face would be as there is no way I want to use these blades more than three shaves. They are certainly serviceable much longer but not pleasurable or particularly effective. But that first head shave after a couple passes on the beard is just killer.

  14. SOTD for July 16, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: JR #142 black badger
    Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill aftershave

Still working on finishing off the Iced Pineapple sample. Hopefully it will finish up by the end of this week. Incredible lather from the Jayaruh 142 badger brush. Easy shaving with the Featherweight. In fact, I'll be using the Featherweight all week. No complaints - nice shave all around.

Back to the grind again this morning. We start indoor music camp today, but it's only a half day. We go half days all this week (all inside) before going full days outside next week. The kids are excited to be back for the most part, and I enjoy seeing them interact with their friends and be back in familiar settings.

We're still searching for our next house. Ours in under contract with a closing date for late August. We looked at 14 houses last week with nothing that really spoke to us. Looking at four more this afternoon. Wish us luck!

    Have a great day!
