Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

    July unfocussed...:shocked029:
Fell completely off of the wagon this morning.
Received the B&M yesterday from a fellow shaver on a rival forum :shocked002: and had to give it a shot.
I figured, if I am not going to use the other items in my July focus, then what the heck, I am going whole hog. :eatdrink020:
Barrister & Mann Roam...:signs002: the verdict is still out I must admit.
I have read that this scent is polarizing and indeed it is. The soap itself is absolutely top-notch.
I much prefer these glass/plastic containers to B&M's current tubs. They are wonderful.
Fantastic lather production, with the proper blooming of course.
One can be tempted to start the shave before this soap is properly hydrated, so rich and creamy it is,
but I advise adding as much water as you can before the soap loses its integrity.
The Ranger Tech was loaded with a new blade; made in the USA, but I have no idea by whom.
Here is a picture, perhaps someone can help me identify it?
    IMG_6492.jpg
(I felt compelled to clean it with some 92% alcohol, before using it.)
I LOVE the Ranger Tech. Love...strong word for a razor but apropos in this case.
    What a marvel!!!
Easily one of my favorite razors in my stable.
    Back to the Roam...
I sit here and type and feel like I just woke up in a tent after a campfire, where the night before I cooked Licorice over the open flames.

SWMBO hasn't smelled it yet. My guess is that it'll get a big thumbs down.
Finished with the matching AS. More Licorice/smoke.
Tomorrow, back to the Focus, I promise.

    Thank you, Jim!

Great post, Joseph! We did a lot of camping when growing up and I can vividly mentally recreate the scent of waking up in a tent after a campfire. However, can't recall ever cooking licorice. :happy102: Great post overall.

Licorice and smoke?! Don't know about that.

A smooth shave earlier this morning, with the same razor & blade combo from the weekend. These Superspeeds really are smooth, mild shavers. I went with a 3 pass shave with this great smelling soap and am looking forward to starting a few weeks of vacation time tomorrow.
    Have a great day all!

Great photo, Perry! I've never thought of getting a pineapple scented soap or splash, but by the sounds of it, this is a universally loved product.
A stunner, Clint. There seems to be mixed reviews on the Thater Boars, but you speak very highly of your beaut. Glad it worked out.
Looking forward to your synopsis comparing the different Superspeeds at the end of the month, Jim!
That razor looks amazing, Joseph. I hope the Roam grows on you. I have a number of B&M soaps, but I'd only call one of them one of the 'polarizing' ones- Lavanille. I'm a huge fan of both his current bases- Glissant and Reserve.

Thank you, Jason! I agree that I'd never lean towards a pineapple scented product either. But it's such a great scent. Really enjoyable, as is Lemon Chill and Grapefruit. Now Lemony Orange is back for a short run and it's terrific. @PickledNorthern says the Stirling Lime scent is amazing as well. Rod does citrus well, I guess.

I like Stoylin Lime-got it as a sample A.S. I believe a Lemony Orange is headed my way soon(generous PIF).

Another wonderful photo and report. It is shame that many of the B&M scents are so polarizing.

Thank you Jason. I will preface my comments on the Thater Boar by admitting I am really not a boar guy. I enjoy using the Thater Boar as much or more than any boar brush I have used. However, I am not sure that it is worth the price of admission. The best way I can reconcile the price is to equate it to harvesting a boar knot and having a nice custom handle made. Were it available at the time, I likely would have went with the Semoge mix knot resin handle SOC.

    Great shave Perry!
    Awesome photo, Clint!
    Very nice Jim!
Beautiful group of products, Joseph! Those blades are Personna's, same as the Lab Blue's but sold in a dispenser. As far as the Roam goes, based on your description I'm glad I didn't get that one.
Fantastic photo, Jason! Enjoy your vacation!
