  2. Assured $1 razor
    Astra SP
    Stirling Boar
    Lisa's Natural Shave Soap

The Stirling Boar brush remains the only Stirling product I regret buying. In the interest of full disclosure, I have tried multiple board and I greatly prefer my synthetics as a general rule, but this one in particular frustrates me. I can whip up a good lather with it, but I always find myself disappointed in the end. I've never had a shave with it that didn't involve picking all of the shed bristles out of my lather, and that just puts a damper on the experience. One day I'm going to forcefully shed the rest of it and replace it with a different knot, as the handle is great. One day.

On the bright side, I've really taken a shine to the Assured with an Astra blade, and reach for it often because it just works for me. And Lisa's Natural has never let me down either. So most of my setup worked well for me today.

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Sheep
Brush - Stirling Pro Handle Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Time to try the second Stirling sample I received on Saturday. Tonight is Sheep night. This is the unscented mutton tallow soap from Stirling. I have and love the Electric Sheep which is one of his strongest scented soaps and also mutton based. I tried the Scots Pine Sheep and while I loved the feel of the mutton tallow and how it shaved, the pine scent was a bit too much for me. Yeah. Go figure. Can't handle some pine scent but the heavy citronella/eucalyptus of the Electric Sheep trips my trigger. Anyway, I thought I'd give the Sheep a chance so I could potentially add a second mutton based soap to the collection. Oh - @Drygulch - yeah....THAT'S how the den reduction is going. As if you didn't know. :signs131:

Anyway, I pulled the big Stirling synthetic brush out and used the Slim and Ladas again. The soap lathers just like every other Stirling I've tried. In other words extremely easily, effectively, and just plain awesomely. It is strange working with an unscented soap. I kept trying to sniff it to pick up the scent. Creature of habit. I shaved two passes and some light touch up and finished with a near-BBS. Very nice. When I squeezed out the brush I got a handful of some of the slickest and most luxurious lather imaginable. Really nice feel to his sheep products and I'm seeing a big tub of this in my future.

  4. I got the Blood on Steel for very similar reasons as well, Randy.
Awesome pic with awesome products, Jim!
Great news John! What a great feeling to be mobile again, I’m sure.
Life’s too short, Chris! Ditch the shedder...:)
  5. Love Seville, love Reserve Cool, love Reserve Spice, like Lavanille, can take or leave Cheshire and Cologne Russe. All are regular offerings, though, and not his one offs.
  6. Thank you, Gentlemen!
  7. Terrific picture, Jim!

  16. I guess I’m odd man out here, as I have A TON of B&M limited releases. Some I loved off the bat. Many of them were not my cup of tea when they arrived. I never came around on a couple, but most were an acquired taste. The more I used them the more I appreciated them for what they were, and consequently enjoyed them more and more. Just my experience. I can see why others would punt instead of choosing to go for it on fourth down.
  17. Thank you, Jim!

  19. No picture today. Used Iced Pineapple soap with Lemon Chill splash again. GEM Featherweight with PTFE blade. Nice and smooth and comfortable.

@Drygulch - finished off the Stirling Iced Pineapple sample for our tally.

Now, need to move on to another soap victim. :signs002:
  20. Glad to hear you are mobile again, John!
I think I'm going to have to break out my sample of Electric Sheep next.
Cool photo, Jim! So which is more aggressive the Ranger Tech or the Red Tip?
Awesome photo Brian, I hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home!
Congrats of finishing another one, Perry!
