Found today, nothing really special about it. Cleaned up ok. The only thing that's curious is on the top band, just below the neck, there is very faintly what appears to be half of the Gillette diamond. I've never noticed a razor of this era marked in this way. My camera would not pick up what I'm seeing so I won't bother with pictures but does this sound familiar to anyone?

Could it possibly be a g inside a D stamp? If so, it would indicate that the razor was sent back to Gillette for repair.

Not so, I'm of the understanding that the g in d stamp was required when silver plated items were sent to Europe.
I'm open to be educated if I'm misinformed.

All I can make out looks like the right half of the diamond, the exact angles, with no text inside...

That right there. Weird. I'll give my camera a shot tomorrow though I'm not hopeful it'll work.

New phone does good close ups after all.

Nothing else visible anywhere on the handle. Did Gillette have any 1920's era razors that were stamped on that area?

As far as I know, the only razors sent in for repair were of the old type.

These would have serial numbers, and while being repaired, would get another serial number, starting with an L

That stamping would be on the head anyways.

Could've been some bored guy on 3rd shift messing around.

Were I dishonest, I could ebay it as the "ultra-rare Gillette Half Diamond Pocket edition, so rare that they stopped production on the only prototype halfway through the stamping...AND HERE IT IS!"

I understand the G-in-D was intended for a foreign market

Everything else, especially the Red, shined up surprisingly well.
