Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

    Smiling Saturday Shave

So happy this week is over I broke out the very smiling Herr Razor. It is tough touching up this razor but somehow I got it right, the edge was excellent. An epic shave to end a hot, sticky, busy week.

    Strop: Mastro Livi
    Brush: Simpson Polo 8

Thanks. It’s mean looking. I like the way it shaves even though it’s a little difficult to stop.

  5. Hi All, reporting in from Germany where it's been extremely hot.

Still shaving with my R89 and reporting back good clean shaves that are nearly BBS.

Did a complete shave with my feather Clubman which was really good for a first shave.

Having not shaved for a while (which I rarely do) I had time to observe my beard growth and realised that my WTG, ATG and XTG where all wrong. This has helped me adjust my technique resulting in better shaves and practically no irritation. It made me realise that you need a good mirror and lighting (as well as glasses in my case!), which needs to be part of your toolkit.

My brother- in-law was given a whole load of DE razors and he sent me 4. Anyone know what they are? No markings at all. Photos attached. The whole razor is just under 8cm long and it's extremely light.

I won't say that I have too much stuff, especially around my wife. ;) If anything, I'm WAY understocked! Compared to many on here, I actually am...
Unless you commit to using a particular tub, it can take a very, very long time to finish one. Some soaps more than others. Take Tabac....I've used mine quite a bit, yet it looks like there's barely any of it missing. I might be in a nursing home before it's gone. At which point I will have to get another one, since it's the official nursing home scent.

BTW, you made me do homework. I had to look up 3017!

The Bullet Tip or "Flying Wing" is the classiest looking Micro-Matic IMHO. Welcome to a new rabbit hole, I too resisted the call of the SEs for a while but caved in eventually. Time to be in the lookout for a G-Bar and a nice 1912 and maybe a Lather Catcher, these are the best in class SEs!

Whew, I am so glad it is Saturday. Even so, we still have a busy day ahead attending a my wife's family luncheon. At least I was able to get a relaxed shave to start the day. Two passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of Antesol and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

  16. Thanks for your concern, my dad is doing as well as expected. Not back to normal and may never be, the off shoot of the strokes. I'm glad to have this time with him.

It was a busy week for me and I got behind on the thread. A cursory catch-up is done. Great shaves, everyone! A few more days of busy band work and then I'll be back to a somewhat normal routine. This week I was leaving home at 6am and working outside with kids all day. Arrived home about 5:30, showered and shaved and ate dinner. It was a tough week, but very productive as far as band stuff. Kids did a tremendous job.

Will be shaving later and will use The Fat and American Blend since I skipped yesterday.

    Good morning gentlemen!

A nice cold shave to start the day. Other than cutting in my sideburns, I did the entire first pass lefty. Better but still not natural. The remainder of the shave I passed the razor back and forth between hands.

A couple of weepers on my neck and mild irritation. I blame that on over shaving not using my off hand.

    Have a great weekend![IMG]

They are faux carbon fiber. The smiling blade is very useful for shaving my neck as well as the dimple on my upper lip. I find a smiling razor is easier now than one that is perfectly straight.
