Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

  1. Suggestion-someone might want to take down the St.Louis Meetup survey.
  2. For my neck it grows w to e one side and opposite on the other. For the first pass I go n to s holding the blade opened up all the way so the scales are almost on the spine. For the second and third pass the razor is held more like a Kamisori to go accross the grain from n to s and s to n. A smiling blade works quite a bit better for the accross the neck pass.
  3. Thank you, Jim!

    Thank you, Jim!

Thank you, Bruce! The Hussy has a slight learning curve but nothing too drastic. Just keep the top cap on my face and the angle finds itself. Smooth sailing after that. Great razor.
The heat wasn't too bad last week! Everyone did quite well.
  4. LOL....Course you know what I always say when I see a UPS(Or FedX for that matter)entering the complex driveway here-"How can that be, I didn't order anything!"(Nice unselfish thing of me to say, right?). Y'know, that UPS garage could have easily been a Greyhound Bus terminal. :)

  5. And one more thing to add, @wristwatchb -in honor of the late guitarist Eddie Rabbitt(some of whose songs I like a lot):

    Hey waitress pour me
    Another cuppa coffee
Pop it down, jack me up
Shoot me out, flyin down the highway
    Lookin for my baaaaaa-by.

OOH, I'm drivin my life away...(you know the rest).

Note -did he work for UPS when he wasn't performing?

  8. Great shave, photo and commentary Perry. Hope you're have a great weekend.
  9. Great shave and photo Primo. I am on my second bottle of the Fine Lavender aftershave. It is some good stuff. I need to try the soap.
  10. Thank you Bruce. Just shows photos are illusions. The razor and brush are on top of my fence with a Cypress Tree behind. Adjusting the camera makes it look much more interesting than it deserves. The lunch went off well. Now all the ladies and house guests are napping. :D
  11. Thank you, Clint. It's pretty cold. When I open the tub of soap for a sniff it kinda burns my eyes. The added peppermint probably adds to the effect.

  13. Years back, I was into amateur photography a little. I went by the "rule" that how the image got taken doesn't much matter - so long as it's not portrayed as something it's not (like if someone took a picture of a tiger at a game farm, but said they captured it on safari). A good photo is a good photo. Back then, digital was just starting to become mainstream. Many old school people were having a fit about manipulated images. Again - if the photo is good, it's good.

Your photo was indeed excellent, no matter what the background was! :)

Glad the luncheon went well, too. So, um....what are you looking to purchase while everyone is napping? Or does that happen tomorrow during TV & adult beverage time? ;)
  14. For those who like to enabled, but with cheap stuff......

I ran some errands this morning and went by a TJ Maxx. Was perusing their various bath and smell-goods and came across a few wet shaving items.

Tub of Proraso Red soap - $3
Erasmic shaving soap in a plastic container - $3.99
    Erasmic shaving cream - $3.99
    Proraso preshave cream - $6.99
A few kits of various brands with brushes and creams, etc - prices vary

I ended up buying the Proraso preshave because it was inexpensive and I've wanted to try it out. I almost bought the Proraso red and Erasmic soaps, but I put them back.

Also went by a Burlington Coat Factory store but had no luck. They had some Proraso stuff not too long ago. I was hoping to run into the green aftershave because I've heard it's pretty nice, but no luck.

Not that I need ANY of it.....

    July 28 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette 40s Style Rocket
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
    Lather: Stirling Green
    Aftershave: Stirling Green
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

An afternoon post for this morning's shave. I went back to the 40's style Rocket, and had a terrific two pass. The Stirling Green set it up with a great scent just as we loaded the kids to head to a friend's baby shower/BBQ. It was hot, but fun. I hope everyone has been having a great day!
  16. Fantastic photo, Jim!
