I’m very happy to enjoy a relaxed Saturday morning. Plenty of time for coffee and catching up on life. Sticking with that theme, I went with a relaxed three pass shave making an effort to pay attention to the angle and pressure. With very little touch ups on my lower right neck I easily caught the baby. The jury is still out on the E plate. I don’t find it a big improvement in efficiency over the D plate and it’s not as smooth. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

  2. Nice photo, Clint! Glad your Saturday morning started off in a relaxed way. Hope your weekend stays that way.
  3. Great photo and report. I followed your idea and just dipped my brush bristles in the cream. I was rewarded with a mountain of lather.

  4. Thank you Perry. A trip to the barber is my most strenuous planned activity for the day.

  5. Sounds good. We are meeting a friend for lunch who's traveling from Atlanta back to Starkville. That's the extent of our efforts! Lazy Saturdays are okay with me.
  6. Nice picture, Clint. Sounds like a relaxing start to the day.

  8. Asha left Tuscaloosa this morning on her way to Tempe. Her next stop is in Dallas to spend a couple of nights with friends.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: Jayaruh 'Woody' SE
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Arko
Post: Witch hazel, Skin Bracer aftershave

Another fine shave with the Woody razor. This has been a treat to use. It behaves better than at least two other SE razors I own. Fun experience trying it out.

Arko today! It's been a while. The main drawback with Arko for me is the post-shave feel. Always feels a bit dry and not soft and hydrated like Stirling or Soap Commander leaves your face. But that's a small complaint. Arko works quite well otherwise. Skin Bracer isn't my favorite but I gave it some use today as well. Overall a really nice shave.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    -Blackland Dart
    -Muhle STF
    -Stirling Electric Sheep

First shave with the Dart. Another home run from @ShaneS and Blackland. It is a great looking razor with shaping that really just starts to say “Blackland”. The fit is perfect, the finish is rougher than it’s more expensive big brother, or that of the really high end guys, but only in places you’ll never see inadvertently.

I have read a ton of reviews on this razor, and I find them very similar to those about the Blackbird when it came out. The general consensus is that this is an aggressive razor, but there are quite a few guys who are claiming that it’s fairly medium. After only one shave with the Dart I can tell you this: Like the Blackbird, it has a very narrow sweet spot, and I am not certain yet, but I am going to say that it is not exactly riding the cap. I had a fantasticly comfortable BBS with it last night, BUT you can very easily tell when you are on the cap and not cutting like you should, vs. scraping a little too much. Like the Blackbird, it needs attention until muscle memory kicks in. More to come as I feel it out.

I love the Muhle STF knot, I kinda hate the handle. The knot is one that plays in the same league with the Simpson synths. The handle lowers the brush a grade. It feels small and slippery for the big knot, and the faux horn looks like discount Army Navy Camo. I am seriously having a custom turned for this. That could possibly put it into my first place synthetic slot.

Used the Electric Sheep and Splash, the use of the soap making it my most used software product. Grilled chicken while I sat outside with my wife and had a couple of beers; not a single mosquito bite.
