Bit of a lark today, having recently received a Filly 14 Especial which some folk feel is better than the later DTs, I decided to do a side-by-side. Last night I re-finished the DT exactly like the Especial, and this morning SMN was the soap of choice (and a choice soap it is), lathered with a Simpsons 57. D. R. Harris Pink finished it off. Bottom line, they're so close that I can't tell. Both shave really, really well. Cheers, Steve
I forgot I had this classic beauty and noticed it when I tried to find room for my latest acquisition. Kind of like finding the $20 bill you forgot about in your jacket pocket. Wow, your memory is better than mine. I had one very similar but I don’t remember who I sold it to... It was one of my coolest looking razors but was to small and lite for my taste, it did take a nice edge too.
W.M. Schula ‘perfection’ Jayaruh 175 boar brush Blood on steel by Jeeves of Hudson street I just refreshed the edge on this one and it provided a great two pass shave with very little touch ups.
@Paul76, I recognize those scales! Second shave for the new to me Especial, cream was the ol' reliable AdP and the brush a HMW 3-band. A splash of Thayers Rose Petal made a relaxing finish to the shave. Cheers, Steve
Today's shave was with a Newly Acquired, Restored, and Honed Razor. I had a wonderfully smooth 2 pass shave, with very minor touch-up around the chin, that yielded a BDBS shave. This is a splendid razor, and takes a seriously sharp edge. The ATG pass was as smooth as the WTG pass. Razor- "CCC" (Cattaraugus Cutlery Co.). Brush- JR#262 Birdseye Maple/Ebony/ WD Silvertip Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Mmmm Mmmmm Good.
I shaved with a Koraat Custom, however tapatalk will not allow my photos to post. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Round two of the Fritz Bracht DOVO #25 vs. the Dubl Duck Wonderedge. All software the same as before but the Fritz Bracht was sporting a green paste enhanced edge. Wow, I don’t know that there is a clear winner but on a highly subjective basis I might give it to the Fritz. I like the larger size a little more and the point doesn’t intimidate me as much as the one on the Wonderedge. But really, you could pick either one as better - they’re both that good.
