I never even considered the tiredness factor!

It's only for 5 days, so I can deal with it I suppose! Might be easier when I have some TOBS to use ;)... I might be breaking my focus by using a different soap... Same razor and blade though!

Update from the Dark Side Apprenticeship Program.

About 6 weeks in. Only picked up a safety razor once in August.

    I really like it.

I'm slowly progressing with the closeness of my shaves. Always comfortable! Even with extra passes and touch ups.

I'm also learning how to keep my equipment sharp.

I'm staying picky about my pre-shave routine and sticking with what I consider better soaps, but am finding I can vary a lot on the aftershave routine without bad consequences. It is fun, I can try all my stuff.

Could become my most preferred shaving tool.

Thanks again to those who have inspired me and offered advice. I had no clue that I would be where I am today when I took up 'wetshaving' last December.

Congrats on your progress! It sounds like you may have progressed from Dark Side Apprentice to Journeyman!

    August 19

    G3 Gillette Fatboy
    Perma-Sharp Super Stainless (2)
JR #160 Louisville Slugger handle with Omega 10098 boar knot
    Le Père Lucien - unscented
Thayers Lavender witch hazel, Trumper Coral Skin Food, and unrefined shea butter

I continue along with the same set up, and I'm consistently enjoying near BBS two-pass shaves. The Fatboy on setting 9 provides me with slightly closer shaves with less effort required than the lower settings. No complaints against the lower settings, but I prefer 9. When the angle is right and the skin is stretched properly, I can't feel the blade. One more shave with a Perma-Sharp tomorrow, and then I'll transition to Sputnik blades. @NCoxSTL gifted me with a tuck, and it will be the first time I've used this brand. I look forward to changing something in my daily set up, and I'm sure these blades will perform well.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.

    Thanks, guys!

I’ve dabbled in the dark side enough to get a decent shave, but probably need to follow in your footsteps, put down the DE, and go all in for a month or more. Maybe SE September will be just the ticket. Maybe I’ll even make it Stirling SE September to add some consistency (do I hear an AMEN for a focus?), and put a dent in some of my Stirling pucks.

I am doing Stirling SEptember as I did last year. But I won’t be using a straight. Injectors and SE razors as usual.

Stirling September sounds like a good idea for September.

I'm in for a Stirling September. I don't have an SE but I have a slant.
    Stirling/slant September for me.

Ooh, temptation. I’ve got a few injectors, but have never tried them. A couple of untested SEs too. And so many soaps... Is mid August too early for my September focus to come unhinged?

A lot of great shave reports and pics today already, gentlemen! I also enjoyed all the other conversation, including @wristwatchb 's little pictorial tour of the classic British shave shops. :)

I plan to use my Batch 2 Mongoose with the Big Bomber handle and Feather Super Pro blades in SEptember. I have more than 8 years worth of Feather SE blades. I can use a few of them without putting the stockpile at too much risk. ;)
