This here's Our Sunflower, Our only Sunflower. It shaves us neatly most every day. We'll never grow hair on legs or whiskers. Please don't take Our Sunflower away. J.W. Crancer & Co.
Picked up this near perfect travel razor the other day, it was dirt cheap.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Joh. Engstrom. Eskilstuna. Sweden It was a Diamond in the rough, hopefully. I rolled the dice, at $13.50. Rusty, crusty, and a little chippy.
I just sent this one to Glen@gssixgun to fix a chink in the end of the edge and in general clean it up, but I love these scales: Joseph Rodgers 6/8
I thought I had acquired my last straight. Evidently not. Maybe now I have. I just received "The Celebrated Acme Razor." I cleaned it up. It needs to be made shave ready, but it is looking pretty good. This is right out of the package. These are after I cleaned and oiled it.
After cleaning up the razor and stropping it really well, I decided I would at least give it a go once. I did the first pass of this shave with the Acme razor and finished off with my Gillette New Standard. It was a very satisfying shave. Tabac Tuesday's Shave Cold Water Wash Tabac B-400 by Tom Wilbert 5/8 Acme Razor Gillette New Standard Tuckaway Gillette Super Thin CWR Tabac AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shave Soap face lathered well with the B-400 Brush by Tom. I did the first pass with my new Wilbert 5/8 Acme Razor. It did fine, but it still needs to have the edge refined. I finished off the second pass with the Gillette NEW Standard Tuckaway Razor with a Gillette Super Thin DE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
This one will be on the SOTD tomorrow - it arrived today and it's a different razor than the one I've posted before, it came up on a BST at a good price so my RAD kicked in and it arrived this morning. Took a seemingly great edge as Fillys do. The scales are a little darker on this one. Cheers, Steve
8/8 Koraat, antique finish, near wedge, square Schorkopf point, round heel with Grenadill scales. Very happy to have this!
Ahh, well I would like to be able to say my RAD had subsided but alas no. I just haven't been posting lately, but I'm 5 more razors richer/poorer. How ever you want to look at it. Two more Wade & Butchers and 3 Dubl Duck Goldedge. I know, I know, Pics, ROFL I will post soon. Here are a few to wet your apatite! Dubl Duck Round point Dubl Duck Square point Wade & Butcher Celebrated Fine India Steel There is one more GoldEdge but it was broken and cut down to a 2" blade. The other Wade & Butcher is a 15/16 wedge
That'll clean up and hone up. You'll have a classic beauty, and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you brought that one back from the brink. You spent your money well.
Found these at an antique store. Both are (or began as) 5/8 by the look of them. The one with the gold coloured scales says Solingen and Meteor Razor Works. I bought it the Meteor just for the scales as the blade looks pretty rough although maybe not beyond restoration. It will clean for show at least. The Boker looks to have some potential. Both appear to be half hollow blades. I don't know much about straights and would welcome any thoughts and comments.
