August 26, 2018 Wolfman Ti OC .74mm with Triad Ti Feather Simpson Jade CH2 Synthetic Nuàvia Blu I decided to go with the Wolfman Ti OC in an effort to change things up a little before Single Edge September. After spending time with the Karve E and F plate the Wolfman OC felt like a mild razor. The Simpson CH2 ate through the last of the Nuàvia Blu. @Drygulch Adam, mark me down for another soap done and dusted. Three passes and touch ups ended in a BBS. I doubled up on the Bay Rum and used Krampert's for the skin care followed by a splash of Captain's Choice for the scent. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
August Focus I had two things in mind with today's shave that were "focus" worthy. 1) Once again using my 1908 Old Type 2) Second shave with the Super-Max The soap today was B&M Reserve Tuesday. While I appreciate greatly the inclusion of the sample from B&M, the tiny jars are a nuisance. As the top photo illustrates, I smeared the soap into a wooden shave bowl, I have been using as of late. Because I am self-proclaimed President for Life of S.B.O.A. I bloomed the B&M whilst showering. I have also been completely squeezing out the water from the soaked brush knot. THEN...I re-hydrate the brush with the bloom water (are you writing this down?) and begin to load in one motion. Shazam! Soap-a-plenty. First WTG pass... Blech! Ugh! Tug! Shmug. What the devil is up Is the reserve base of B&M lather (my first usage, I must say) lacking in slickness Have I completely forgotten how to use my single ring Has the Super-Max blade bit the dust already Lathered my face for my XTG pass and added more water to my lather. Why am I using this blade, when I have a big stash Tossed the Super-Max Chose a Perma-Sharp and began to unwrap it (keep in mind, I am fully lathered for pass 2) Wouldn't you know that the wax paper is completely stuck on the blade Finally picked off the last vestige of paper and reassembled my razor. Pass 2......... Lovely, slick and smooth. Finished pass 3 and I am BBS. Wifey chose the Polo Green.
August 26th Razor: Rex Ambassador (3) Blade: Gillette Nacet (2) Brush: Switchback/TGN Grade A Silvertip Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated Soap: PAA Sangre de Drago Stirling mentholated unscented witch hazel AS: PAA Sangre de Drago Good morning, gentlemen! I was cleaning up the Timeless this morning, taking the blade out to swap it into the Rex. I found that I had left a blade in the Rex, a Nacet. Not like me to do that. After a quick check of my notes I saw there was only one use on it. Probably why I stored the razor with the blade. I was a little sandpapery ATG. One thing led to another which led to a nice two pass shave with about thirteen hours growth. No issues, no irritation, just great results! Have a great Sunday! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great photos and report, Joseph! That OT of yours looks like a great piece of equipment, especially considering that it's 110 years old! Like your photo and a great shave, Jim! You seem to enjoy the Rex Ambassador. Any regrets about buying it?

Sunday morning August 26 Gillette Fatboy refurbished by Delta Echo in Ink black/red on #5 / Nacet (3) Simpsons CH2 synthetic bristle brush Renaissance Faire type horn quaich lather bowl TSD Bay Rum lanolin soap Alum, Thayers Witch Hazel Original Non-Alcoholic and Clubman VIBR I continued the Bay Rum theme today with TSD's excellent version. It is a "pure" bay rum with bay rum EO in it and no other scents. The soap lathers easily, is slick enough, and the lanolin leaves a soft postshave skin feeling. Two passes took me to a DFS and the Clubman VIBR carried the bay rum theme through to the finish. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!
