I think you have Burger King and Charlemagne confused, but I'll go along with you. Hey, anything's possible on the Internet.

That would explain quite a bit of things in a large portion of my family tree, Charlie! Suddenly, our Thanksgiving get-togethers make a lot more sense to me.

The 23andMe says i have Charlemagne DNA in my ancestry too.
I did an extensive family tree check, through Ancestry.com, and they said i was related to Charlemagne. We had links, from records, waaaay back.
I thought that was a crock, until the dna testing came out.

Excellent connection Herm. Not too far from the truth i'm afraid. Although i understand why people would want to know their heritage, these tests are most certainly part of a larger design.

Google's secret offline purchase tracking deal with Mastercard just hit the news so I'm not blind to how some things work these days, but what do you expect they will want to do with such data? And who are "they"?

Out of curiosity, has anyone had any surprise relatives pop up, after testing?? What I'm hinting at is, surprise children..
FYI, none have appeared with my testing.

Marketing, blackmail, extortion, trend identification, insider trading. They? There are likely several competing interests with competing systems

If it's really that big, and it may well be, then if you've ever had an internet service account, emailed, or bought or posted things online, "they" have already bought and sold you many times over and know whatever they want to know about you. So because of stories like the CC one (and that's just one we happen to know about...imagine the deals we don't know of), I don't see getting genetic testing done as some super extra special evil. If it's as comprehensive as you believe...and maybe it is...it's ALL evil already and there's pretty much nothing you can do online that isn't a tool for evil people.

I think these are fair points. I'm just personally not ready to stop raging against the machine. It's a principle thing more than something that actually has more than a "drop in the bucket" kind of effect. Who knows, maybe enough education and enough "drops" and it keeps "them" on their toes a bit, Probably not, but it helps me sleep at night.

Family history is another hobby of mine and I’ve tested with a number of DNA companies. It’s been a fascinating journey so far (with, I hope a lot more twists, turns and surprises to come).

Whilst I’ve not had any surprise children turn up (so far at least), I have been able to confirm some familial links from the paper trail associated with my family tree using DNA.

One of which suggests that I may potentially have a distant relation in the pilot of the Mayflower although it’s quite difficult (if not impossible) to find the necessary documentary evidence to offer definitive proof.
