[Rob breaks out diabolical laugh.] Mayhem category?? I like it. That'd make a pretty interesting video for sure. You've got me thinking about what knife I'd try it with.....
MAYhem is an event we have around here every spring where idio... er... distinguished gentleman of the 30 DC shave with things that have no sane person would ever consider shaving with, and receive awards for their stupidit... er... courage and valor. You can look up May threads for the last couple years to get an idea.
Thank you, Jason, and thank you for the offer of an SE to try. I'm going to stick with my DE's for now before plunging down another rabbit hole. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
It is a deep rabbit hole indeed. I sold one SE this weekend and have another on the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is the un-hijackable thread. There isn’t really any off topic posts you can make. Those are beauties. I look forward to seeing more. That said, please stick around for the thirty day thread in May. We do in depth research in things that could be shaved with vs. things that should be shaved with. And post results. Last year I tried to shave with a hundred year old pocket knife.
Ironically, Adam found that taping a blade to his finger with surgical tape was a slightly better shave than a hundred year old pocket knife, but both eclipsed the attempted "can shave". The scientific method at work...
Shave Report #15 Gillette (Flat Bottom) Fat Handle Tech (Made in England) Astra SP (3rd and final use) Bluebeard Doubloon Boar Brush TOBS Peppermint Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm Another really nice shave. I just did the 2 usual passes, no cleanup/J-Hooking today - wasn't feeling the chase for anything smoother. Ended up with a DFS I would say! Very little, if any, irritation! Enjoy your shaves gents!
September 3, 2018 Razor: Gem G-Bar (pass 1), Schick G8 Injector (pass 2) Blade: PAL Carbon Steel (1), Chick Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger Cream: Simpsons Luxury Post: Alum, Listerine, WH So, three days in, I finally kick off my September shaves. Working against 3 and 1/2 days of beard, I decided to try going with a Gem. I've only used the G-bar a couple of times, so I was curious to try it again. On the blade front, all the cool kids have been talking about CS SE blades, so I decided to try a PAL CS blade from a recent Try-A-Blade purchase. To be frank, things did not start off well. The PAL blade seemed to tug a bit but I was willing to put that off to the 3+ days of growth. At the end of the first pass, however, I was very disappointed with the overall reduction. To save the day, I switched over to my Schick G8 for the second pass and an overall DFS. I'm not sure what happened with the Gem/PAL combo. I'll have to come back to this razor in a day or two with a different blade and see what happens.
September 3 SOTD: Razor: Vanta Blade: Polsilver Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket Lather: Stirling Gin & Tonic on the Rocks Aftershave: Stirling Gin & Tonic Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB I'm back for September, but we took a family trip to Destin, FL for the holiday. I haven't shaved since Wednesday, so it was a rare evening shave for me with about 5 days of growth. I figured that called for a shavette. It was nice and smooth, and I got a near BBS on two passes. We had a great time in Florida, and I caught this photo as we were walking around a shopping center after dinner one evening. That is my youngest pushing the stroller and my wife and older kids in front of her. It was a nice get away. I hope everyone has been doing well, and I am obviously 13 pages behind.
Okay, shave #7 in the books. I really suck at this. I got some alum in the mail and used it after my shave forgetting to keep it consistent for 30 days. Couldn't even keep it consistent for 3 days. I really did like the alum though.
