to go into your local gas station that has a food counter. And get an order of Krispy Krunchy chicken and some corn fritters. Mmmm good!
The Driver Education teacher at the high school I attended had the students drive him to a town gas station where he would order some Krispy Krunchy fried chicken (probably a 2-piece snack) and buy a Coke and a bag peanuts to pour into the bottle. Every day. This thread hits home!
I love my wife to death, but a southern Belle she ain't. First time I did the peanuts in the coke was after only dating for 6 mons or so. Her family is deeply southern, but she must have bypassed that Gene. I put the peanuts in a coke and nobody at the family reunion said a word, except for her. Still to this day she can't figure out why it is so good.
Don't forget some boiled peanuts, maybe Cajun style. I get in trouble with folks up here, but they just don't understand. Sent from my DROID Turbo using Tapatalk
When your driving a tractor you get a snack and drink all in one hand. It is great with the new No Sugar coke too...
Sugar goes in cake, or iced tea, but never in cornbread. Lard, however, is a wonderful addition. Especially if it comes in the form of rendered bacon. Now don't get me started about the addition of creamed corn, jalapeños, and cheddar cheese. Delicious!
It is safe to say that there is plenty that people in the North and South do to their food that disgust the other. I like my chili with beans, ice tea nearly sweetened, peanuts roasted not boiled, oatmeal not grits, and sugar in my corn bread. Not sure where this is from, but I find it revolting ... salt on my watermelon. But like shaving ... to each their own.
Fond as I am of certain southern foods (notably grits & buttermilk biscuits) I’ll pass on the peanuts in Coke.
I'm originally from NY State, but even as a kid, I'd drink Coke while chewing on peanuts, also barbecue chips.
