SEptember 9, 2018s Blackland Sabre L2 Gem PTFE SOC Mistura Taj Mystic Water Vetiver & Oakmoss Fine Fresh Vetiver A excellent shave to start the day. The SOC Mistura continues to improve in both feel and performance with each use. MW soaps are exceptionally slick. The residual slickness allows me to use just water for touch ups. Three passes and touch ups along my jawline caught the baby with ease. However, another weeper robbed me of an Epic shave. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
September Focus Barrister & Mann Leviathan~~Simpson CH2 SiLVERTiP~~1947 Gillette Super-Speed~~Polsilver SI (2) Focus Gear: B&M Leviathan I have had this soap for a while now, albeit without the AS, and it is probably one of B&M's most complicated and yet interesting fragrances. I have heard it compared to a "dirty ashtray". (Similar grumblings are out there regarding Clubman Special Reserve) I happen to disagree. The scent profile of leather, coffee, sandalwood and *cedar (not a new ingredient, but is not listed on the first editions of the soap) is thick, woodsy, musty, and warm. B&M has re-released this product and is available now. This 1947 Super-Speed is my second. I had a magnificent, boxed exemplar that, for some idiotic reason, I decided to sell. Yes I got a great price, but I missed the razor---so good it was. Eventually, I picked up another on Ebay. Better than user-grade, but not nearly as nice. There also seems to be a small "burr" on one side of the non-notched center bar, which causes the razor blade to not smoothy drop into place. I am debating taking a small, fine file to it. Nevertheless, the razor and the Polsilver SI blade made short work of my stubble. 3 pass BBS. Finished with the newly acquired B&M AS. One thing I miss about the B&M AS splashes is the noticeable lack of "sting". Excellent skincare and, of course, I am smelling like a million bucks.
Nice! I 'think' about east/west passes on the neck. Haven't figured it out yet. A 45 degree move is comfortable at this point for me.
It’s the new Sunday soap for me so it’ll be making regular repeat performances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with your disagreement about Clubman Special Reserve smelling like a dirty ashtray. From the many positive reviews of it, does that make "dirty ashtray" a chick magnet?
i usually go ear to chin on the left side on the across the grain pass, using my right hand( right handed) , i am trying to master chin to ear comfortably as it seems to work better. more face mapping needed.one change at a time...
I haven’t shaved since Thursday morning and got way behind here. I’ll try and catch up on the posts later. I had a noisy yet wonderful shave this morning. It was a two pass BBS. This is a fantastic razor. Hendrix Classics & Co Soap Elk Antler Badger Brush Henckels Friodur 72 1/2 Razor Pinaud Lilac Vegetal After Shave Have a blessed Sunday!
Not everyone appreciates Indy in a leather motorcycle jacket, smoking a cheroot. Like The Veg, it takes an Alpha-ness to confidently wear such a manly scent.
September 9 G3 Gillette Fatboy Rapira Platinum Lux (3) JR #160 Louisville Slugger handle with Omega 10098 boar knot Le Père Lucien - unscented Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, Trumper Coral Skin Food, and unrefined shea butter I enjoyed my first DE shave in more than a week. Two passes and a few touch ups, very relaxing. Everything just worked well together. Big thumbs up for the Rapira Platinum Lux blades. They are plenty sharp and very smooth. I plan to finish this tuck of blades and then transition to my Mongoose SE. (Since I'm taking a blood thinner for the next few months, I'll probably avoid shavettes for awhile.) I have 60 shaves or so on the JR # 160. The big Omega boar knot has broken in nicely. It has good backbone, plenty of scrub, and no scritch at all. I spend more time building lather on my face with this brush than with any other in my rotation. It provides a nice face massage, and it also does a good job with exfoliation. The JR handle feels good in hand and is a perfect match to the knot. I really underestimated the longevity of the LPL soap and the Trumper Skin Food. I've used maybe a third of the soap and 80% of the skin food. I purchased the 200g puck of soap in a steel tin from Connaught Shaving in 2015 for $24. Based on the performance and the price, I'd definitely buy this one again. I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!
