@NCoxSTL Time Warp tradition but pushing it to the black hole event horizon limit - I shaved on Thursday but am just now writing up my report. Chalk it up to "having a busy life", I have a bit of envy for you guys with regular schedules and daily shaves. In a shipment out of Hong Kong from Steve
@Vlasta, A couple new items have entered my den. I saw Troy
@Troy M used the same scheerzeep couple days ago and he may have a tip to getting what I consider an acceptable lather. Using the soap and a brand spankin' new brush (well, two brushes and three soaps!) violated all common sense in our "only change one variable" Focus procedure. Throwing caution to the wind I defunked the huge badger with a couple ARKO lathers. Did I mention this is a big knot? I think it upgraded my flotilla by adding my first Cruiser Class. I won't claim Carrier until I can confirm 34mm+. So with the to me undetectable (the dog was interested) critter smell washed out, I put brush to soap. DVH (translation from Dutch; The Gilded Hand) is on the softer side, a slightly airy puck like Proraso rather than common artisan soft or triple milleds. It loaded easily with no prehydration considering the knot fully filled the opening of the tub. Into the bowl for agitation where the knot swallowed up lather as it appeared. Squeezing the badger released without loss of quality. Granddaughter Jenisis wandered into range while I was working up the lather and insisted on doing the application. After she finished getting lather in my ears, mustache, and shirt collar I looked in the mirror. What appeared to be acceptable glossy & wet had thinned down to the quality I expect from inexperienced "shave soap" sold by local artisans (has everyone bought one or more of these hoping for the "next big thing" and then used it as hand soap?).
For a 400+ year history of non-reformulated product, I'm taking responsibility for the lack of clown paint style coverage and rapid dissipation. Slickness happened in the Modern Williams paradigm because I applied this J-1 Chris
@Bama Samurai sent my way as my first and most used injector to great results. Squeezing the fat brush knot released all the lather that didn't show in my bowl for three plus passes and a DFS or better. A decision to be made for my next shave - do I try the soap again, or the brush? I expect they are both wonderful items but need me to develop correct techniques for their proper use.
Good Shaves Y'all!
