That's exciting, Charlie! When our home was being built the wife and I would check on the progress almost every evening after work. It was fun seeing the daily changes.

I'm posting tomorrow's shave tonight, as I plan to join some guys for a 7 a.m. Saturday morning Men's Bible study. Even us old retired folk rise early every now and then, provided we get coffee and donuts.

I'm getting in under the SE wire this month with my Mongoose. This one is from Batch # 2, so I've had it for about four years. I plan to finish the month with it and likely continue into October. Compared to the Fatboy, this razor is hefty. I've got the larger Big Bomber handle if I want to add even more heft. I've always liked how it shaves and how it feels in my hand. The build quality is excellent, and I admire the simplicity of its design. Loaded with a Feather Super Professional blade, it should be a fun ride for the next few mornings.

I'll offset the heft of the razor by pairing it with my mid-size Kent BK4 brush. This is normally my travel brush. It is far from a soap destroyer, but I'm still interested to see how it performs with the LPL soap.

I'm starting to see the beginnings of a donut hole in the bottom of the LPL soap container. It's a wonderful soap, but I hope I'm not ringing in the New Year with this same tin.

Thanks Jim. It is pretty exciting. Now that things are starting to move, we'll be visiting the site quite frequently. It's amazing how many decisions need to be made in order to get to this point. My Bride has had a blast on the interior design. I focused mostly on the guy stuff...the HVAC, plumbing fixtures, my office, and an area in our basement where will we have surround sound. I will even have my own medicine cabinet to house all my shaving gear!

We designed a fairly open basement. My builder showed us a video where 14 (fourteen!) guys were working together to set a large steel support beam. He usually pours the basement floor later during construction, but he went ahead and poured ours early so that the work crews would have safe footing as they set these large beams. I was glad to hear that because I don't anyone to get hurt building our home. I worked for years in a manufacturing plant where we used cranes to set very large pieces of equipment. I'm in awe when I see how hard these home construction crews have to work in order to complete this kind of work. They have my full respect.

It sure is, Paul. There are actually three houses being constructed simultaneously in our new neighborhood. Ours should be finished sometime around March. We recently learned that our neighbors will move in sometime around Christmas. We understand they are coming from Minnesota. They're really gonna be disappointed in our winters.

Wow, Charlie, that sounds great! I focused on the garage. My wife tells people that we bought a garage with an attached house.

I know you are excited. Now is when you can really see things getting done with it looking more like a home each week.

Along that line, perhaps I can say that the house I grew up in(which isn't far from me now), had a garage installed, but they moved the house to the right in the installation process. QWe just had a small driveway during our time there

SEptember is a Stirling month!

Switching up for a few days. Taking a break from the Gems and going to the Type E Schick that I got from @CarlfromMO . I stayed with Stirling, Executive Man to be exact, but went with my JR54 synthetic brush. Fine, fine lather. Not my absolute favorite scent from Stirling but it's nice.

Two passes and touch up reminded me how well this razor works. It's a bit on the aggressive side, to say the least. It brought the baby home and left only a very mild reaction from the alum. I had the angle a little high on the first pass which probably caused that. All in all a great shave and a nice diversion in between delivering and driving alcohol challenged people around for the night. Hope you have a great Friday night and start to the weekend!

We have friends visiting from out of town. I took the day off and we showed them around. I did get in a nice leisurely shave this morning before heading out. Everybody is finally going to bed and I have time to check in and catch up with you guys.
It looks like Charlie is going to have a nice house. Very cool!

Haven't shaved since Wednesday night, so there was a fair growth. The MMOC was indifferent - it mowed it down with ease. The second pass resulted in a couple of tiny weepers when my shave direction was slightly aggressive (ATG) and I nicked my Adam's apple because I didn't stretch the skin to the side on my N-S pass (idiot). Overall, a beautifully smooth shave resulting in a DFS with minimal irritation (still room to improve). I think I see/feel what people are saying about the GEM PTFE blades on the first shave - a tad rough?

I think the PTFE blades are rougher on the first shave. Some blades are worse than others.

It was nothing major, I just noticed that I got 3 TINY weepers having not had any for 3 shaves. I still have some spots on my neck too, but nowhere near as many as I have had in the past. I'm not sure if the shaving spots are something that I am going to have to live with, or if with further technique improvement they will be a thing of the past!

A great shave this morning to start a rather busy day. Two passes and touch ups ended in a perfect BBS shave. A splash of CC Bay Rum kept the theme going. My wife and I are leaving for an HOA meeting in Bryson City, NC this afternoon. We plan to make a day of it and stop in Dillard for some antiquing. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
