Between yesterday and today, I cooked my tail feathers off! Yesterday was meat gravy (tomato sauce) with ground spicy wild boar from garden tomatoes. Today was beer bread (first time making bread) with whole wheat flour and a local stout beer. And to end the day, a small vat of pasta fagioli soup. The soup was from a package of dry ingredients, but the rest was all me. So... dinner tonight: the gravy over penne, a decent slice of bread (gotta sop up the gravy!), and a glass of an "ok" organic pinot noir.
I’ve only had deer a couple times and it’s always tasted gamey. Moose is normally pretty mild but can occasionally be a little gamey. The moose we got from my brother in-law tasted just like pot roast in the stew. Both were very tender and had very similar mouth feel but I could definitely taste the difference. One funny story. When I was 5 or 6 we got a moose and cooked the ribs all day. Me eating those ribs looked like when Fred Flintstone ate those huge dino ribs. I don’t remember what they tasted like other than I thought they were great. If you get a chance to have moose don’t pass on it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thanks I'll definitely give it a try if I ever get the chance. Maybe @Slipperyjoe has a relative he could send my way.
Most connoisseurs prefer either moose or venison over penguin unless, of course, you're referring to the crock pot recipe.
I really enjoy some menudo,my wife looks at me like i'm crazy when I get it.Usually the canned stuff that I spice up but there is one mexican grocery store -restaurant in an old filling station that makes some that will open your sinuses and make your nose run unfortunately they are in the next town over, about 15-20 miles so I only eat there when passing through.Good tripe tacos too.
i had forgot about them. or blanked them from my memory. iI don't think I ever actually heard anything by them.I seem to recall them appearing on some tv show I was watching years ago.
