I had a great shave today*. Why the asterisk? Because my shave really didn't begin until I flipped the "Clone" Dorco Pace 6 into the trash after a few strokes. Then the Sensor Deuce DisposeABLE took over, and saved me. With the Dorco Clone, it was like I was dragging it across whiskers just for the sake of dragging. If you're going to buy a clone(or a dupe)make sure it's an aftershave, not a razor.
SEptember 25th GEM Jr w Gem stainless (2) Omega ‘49/Walnut Stirling Gentleman Thayers CL Unconditional Surrender AS Very nice shave with the Gem Jr this morning. Pulled out the Gentleman for ‘Tobacco tuesday’, and had the usual great Stirling lather. 3 passes led to complete smoothness. Both nostrils are intact, for an added bonus. Have a great day all!
Happy Birthday Charlie @wristwatchb and Joseph @Primotenore . The crew hasn't known two finer gentlemen!
The conventional wisdom is that an E is aggressive and a G is milder. Oddly, I love my E2s (two of them) but find a G1 very irritating. As near as I can tell, it has something to do with the width of the safety bar (i.e., distance from the curve of the bar to the cutting edge). The G1 places the bar closer to the cutting edge which, for me, makes for a rougher shave. I didn't realize the full impact of this relationship, however, until I got a PAL Adjustable. The PAL adjusts by moving the safety bar in and out relative to the blade (as opposed to the Schick Adjustable which maintains a single distance but moves the bar up and down similar to a DE). By eye, it appears that the E2 is similar to a PAL Adjustable at just above the 'L' (Light) setting while the G1 is further up the scale toward 'H' (Heavy). I tend to have a light beard, so this actually makes sense. If I had the money and ambition, I'd be curious to pick up most of the G-type Injectors. At some point between the G1 and G8, the geometry reverted to one similar to the E2. Needless to say, I find the G8 to shave similarly well to the E2 (for me).
Great shave, Jason. I really like the way you light your photos. Has your wife grown to appreciate Stirling Gentleman? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
SOTD Stirling SEptember 25th Portland Razor Co Hydra Stirling Electric Sheep Satin Tip The Purest Last week I finally had time to touch up the edge on my PRC Hydra (Thanks again Charlie @wristwatchb ). So decided to give it a test shave this morning. Considering that I haven't touched a straight in over two months I was expecting blood, there was none. Just two easy passes where I wiped away the lather and whiskers with the big, heavy, quarter hollow, chunk of American steel. I got a very nice edge on this razor by taking it back to the 3 micron film and then finishing it up on the 1 micron film. DFS after two passes, Ill take it! Have a great day my friends!

Interesting. I have a PAL Adjustable I shave with and a Schick M that I have never used, but I haven't compared the adjustment mechanisms between them. For that matter, I use both a Schick E2 and a common G but had never really examined the difference between them.
