Today's shave was with a nice American Made razor. I had a very smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me DBDS, with minor touch-ups on the chin. Zero issues, and a very well made razor. This is the second use of this brush, and it only shed three hairs. It looks like it will be a nice soft keeper.

Razor- Waterville Cutlery Co. Hand Forged, Extra Hollow Ground.
Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar. Amazon $6.90 free shipping.
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Vikings Horn Decanter

    SATURDAY'S SHAVE

    Razor - Edwin Jagger "Kelvin"
Blade - Astra Superior Platinum *Fresh blade
Shave Brush - Satin Tip "The Purest"
Shave Soap - Wet Shaving Products "Gaelic Tweed" Rustic Vegan Formula (In my own personally labeled tub)
Aftershave - Wet Shaving Products "Gaelic Tweed"
Deodorant - Creed Green Irish Tweed
Fragrance - Creed Green Irish Tweed

Cleaning the gear the night before:

Notice how the Satin-Tip "The Purest" brush handle looks after cleaning? When used with modern shaving soaps, it gets a dark shaded greasy areas on the handle. I've seen so many of these that no longer look how they did brand new. Using a combination of the Seventh Generation dish washing liquid and the Soft Soap Aloe-Vera hand soap along with a toothbrush, and doing 2-3 'light' scrub and rinse sessions takes the dark spots off and leaves the brush looking and feeling like the Satin-Tip handle when we first got it out of the box. With this super-soft, velvet-like feel to the handle and that matte look to the black handle. This brush is almost 2 and a half years old and has been used dozens of times.

***--EDIT - The WSP soap is just so easy to load from the nicely sized 3rd party container. I really think WSP should consider getting rid of those tiny tin containers they sell with their shave soap. I could never load the brush without it making lather too early before the brush is loaded because the lip of the small container causes too much friction. In the big tub it's super easy to load a thick/rich base and the lather explodes into a nice rich creamy foam when I'm ready to build it. When WSP soap can be loaded properly it is a top notch shave soap. Got a perfect shave.

The only scent I 'might' be able to pair with Solstice is 'maybe' Green Irish Tweed. They might work in tandem. I am very careful when I cross fragrance products. They have to pair well or they will clash and smell odd.

    SEptember is a Stirling month!

    September 28
Razor - Type M Schick Injector
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Stirling Port-au-Prince
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Finish - Alum

Another night with the Type M and another new Stirling sample. This time it's the Port-au-Prince which is Hatian Vetiver and Lemongrass. I've never tried a Vetiver based scent before so I was quite interested to try. Definitely an earthy scent and one that I actually enjoy. It got the thumbs up from my wife as well. This one goes into the keeper category at least for now. It's also Mutton Tallow so its chances of sticking in my den are nearly 100%.

As for the actual shave it was quite nice as always with the Schick. Smooth, BBS finish, no blood. Great way to end a Friday. Enjoy the weekend!

Festive Parlor is a strange one. It reminds me of industrial cleaner but in a good way lol. Lathers like a beast and likes a good amount of water. Criminally underrated IMO.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

Prep: shower with Razorock Thermal Mud bath soap
Razor: Icon X3, Gillette Tech handle
    Blade: Gillette Rubie
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
    Soap: Stirling Iced Pineapple
    Post: Soap Commander Fortitude balm

Have been trying to grow my beard back since i accidently brought my side burns up too high recently hahaha. The Iced Pineapple sample is a few years old but finally decided to crack it open and give it a shot. The menthol was nice but not overpowering, some scent loss from time and storage but no bid deal. Lather was great and one of the better lathers i have got lately. Had some trouble with a few of my brushes developing a tacky residue making it hard/impossible to get stable lather despite the soap. Gave them a soak in very hot water and some hand soap that seemed to do the trick. Finished the shave off with Fortitude balm, the menthol paired great with the soap and felt soothing. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!

After yesterday's very enjoyable frugal shave I thought I'd choose some favourites:
    The Cobra
    4711 and:
The Uplift soap is only in its second use but it deserves it position.
The veggie base was already high up in my estimation and now the tallow, skin care extraordinaire.
Why aren't more people using their soaps?
The Duke 3 is new to me (cheers @ajc347) and it may well become a favourite.

    Last night’s SOTD.

My first time with the Muhle 70th Anniversary Synthetic Brush, the Rocnel Elite Razor and Noble Otter Barbarr soap.

All three products were amazing. The brush has a STF v2 23mm knot and a very heavy chromed metal base. Whilst I’m not sure, I suspect by the weight of the base it’s likely to be made of brass. It’s seriously heavy and took a bit a getting used to. The grey resin is polished to a finer level than a standard Mühle handle and I’m not sure whether this is a good thing as the handle felt a bit too slippery at times. This is the only fault I could find with this brush.

Onto the Rocnel. This razor was designed to use Feather blades so that’s what I used. It mowed down a weeks worth of stubble with ease and is a very smooth razor. Whilst I’d have to test them side by side, it felt like it could well be smoother than my Timeless 0.95 SB. This razor is incredibly well made and is most definitely a keeper.

The soap was awesome as well. It’s up there with B&M, Wholly Kaw and P&B in terms of slickness and gave a great post-shave feel.

I deliberately didn’t use a pre-shave oil as I was testing new products and definitely didn’t need to with this soap and razor combination.

    Have a great weekend guys.

Woo-Hoo! Now that, that was an exhilarating shave. Super efficient with phenomenal blade feel that was just a pure joy and rush to use. First time with the Pro Super & Claymore and what a pairing. Luckily, the SC soap was up for the challenge as it helped with a 2 pass shave with NOTHING ELSE required. My face is so happy right now. Have a great day and awesome shaves Gents... :happy088:
