Off focus for Saturday Taking a break from trying to finish of the AdP, it was a chilly rainy morning so I wanted some hot lather. QCS and some boiling water and I am good to go. This Friodur is a big girl, 8/8 and full hollow, it is fun to listen to it popping the hair. A momentary lapse cost me the epic shave, I gave myself a small cut by not paying attention after finishing a stroke. Nice leisurely shave to start the day. Two pass with extra touch up, BBS result. I'm really enjoying my shaves with the Blackbird. Effortless DFS results and with extra touch up, BBS. After a period of non use I do approach it with extra caution. Memories of my first shave with it which was also my first DE shave after many years of cart use. Pretty rough. Have a great weekend! Thanks guys. To be honest, it's a recycled oldie that has been reworked in a photo editor called befunky.com, The NEW LC and the BK4 is one of my 'go to' combos.
Jim, that's a sweet set up and a great way to start the weekend. How do you like the Shave Tonic? I discovered it on another shaving forum and was pleasantly surprised that I can get it locally. I gave my partially used bottle to a friend. I need to restock it at some point.
Thanks, Charlie. I've found that I'm a Bay Rum junkie and this one doesn't disappoint. The best presentation of any aftershave I own. My only complaint is the lack of a restrictor. They do send a dropper with it though so no worries about wasting any trying to pour. I don't remember where I first came across it but it was out of stock at the time. I had forgotten about it until you brought it up. Nice that it's available locally for you. I'm assuming I'll see it in your SOTD pictures in the near future? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
October 6, 2018 Wolfman Ti OC 0.74mm with Triad Ti Feather Simpson CH2 Synthetic Figaro Sapone Speciale Captain’s Choice Bay Rum A wonderful shave this morning. The Sapone Speciale sample from @Primotenore is just about gone. I might be able to get one more shave out of the remains. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby narrowly escaping. A splash of CC Bay Rum and I am off to spend the day with my Mom. I hope everyone has great Saturday.
Thanks, Clint! Stunning photo, Clint! Have a great day with your mom. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Awwright, let's go to the Survey leaderboard and see what's goin down: We have Duffnuts and Old School Gillette tied for the lead at 36, with Vintage Aristocrat solid for third at 33. It's neck and neck for last place with Pain Sticks and "Request For More Cookies" at 6.7.
Weeper along the jawline this morning. It came early in the shave, which, as I indicated in a previous post, is upsetting. It didn't throw me off from the rest of the shave, but I did keep thinking "Better not happen again!".
He was given a stern warning and threatened with having his Cartel membership revoked. He looked quite repentant and humbled standing there in the mirror. Not a bad looking guy though.
I’ve been offline for a few days finally catching up on this thread today on my flight home. Too many comments to try and do a Shavette fu multiquote catch up. Suffice it to say I always enjoy the journey of sharing in the lives of the 30 DC. @NCoxSTL and @Primotenore I am sorry for your losses, and you are in my thoughts and prayers. @Screwtape and @mrchick, thanks for your generous offers to try out razors; very subtle enabling, gentlemen! Actually, seriously, this group is continues to be a brotherhood where generosity is part of its DNA, and I appreciate the offers. For now, I’m content learning the ways of the dark side. The last few days have been hotel shaves, but thankfully with a DE razor. I checked a bag and brought an inexpensive 1940’s superspeed in case it got lost. This is the razor I learned on, and it gives a really good shave, but it just doesn’t give me the feedback or the enjoyment that I get from my more aggressive razors. I’m gonna have to re-scale and hone up one or two of my cheap eBay straights and add another cheap adjustable to the stable solely to have a couple better travel razor options that I’m not worried about losing. Have a great weekend, guys.
