Randy, I’ve been traveling a lot for years and always check my bag. I’ve never lost a thing in 37 years of doing this. I take nice razors. I’m traveling with a Torrey and a PRC this week. It’s worth the risk to me to have enjoyable shaves on the road. Go for it

Joseph said; SWMBO started in on how ridiculous my "collection" is. :p Can't argue with the facts.

I looked it up. Women's makeup should be tossed between 3 months and two years after opening depending on the product type. Since we're Manly Men, using vintage AS and discontinued soaps is just the way it is. Our fashion doesn't fade like theirs does. That could make your shelf look full, but your stuff is good until you use it up. She's got to buy more to keep it fresh.

Let me know how it goes when you tell her that?

The big difference is that women's makeup can be contaminated via the applicator (i.e., applicator touches skin/bacteria/etc. then is brought back into contact with the product wherein the bacteria, etc. can multiply. OTOH, there is no reverse contact with most men's products.

Gillette NEW LC / Astra SP ( 6)
APShaveCo U - Brush with 24mm Flat Top knot
    Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap
Alum and Hendrix Classics Barbershop balm test jar

I used a different LC than the one I tried yesterday but the result was the same. Smooth razor; two passes to a near BBS. Alum was a little warm on my neck and underside of my jaw but not bad -- a cold rinse and then the balm quietened everything down again. I binned the blade tonight and will start tomorrow with a fresh blade in a new razor.

I have been using the Hendrix Classics & Co test balm from @Pete123 for a week now and quite like it. A fingertip of the cream dabbed on my chin and then spread with both hands covers my face and neck. It sinks in without leaving a greasy feeling but does calm any irritation and leaves my face feeling soft and well-tended. The lanolin in it is quite evident in its working.

I imagine someone who was so inclined could make this part of their daily skincare regimen quite successfully. It would deal not only with razor irritation but also with windburn and generally dry or chapped skin. Of course, in my case, I already have three big bottles of different types of Thayers Witch Hazel plus about a zillion different balms and splashes, so being "faithful" to one balm isn't going to happen. But if I were a "one balm" guy, I could see this Hendrix Classics & Co Barbershop balm being a good one to commit to...

Actually, someone starting out who wants to keep it simple and avoid all the ADs could do a lot worse than going strictly with Pete's line of products: wash with the Barbershop hand/bath soap, shave with the Barbershop shave soap and (once it is in full production) moisturize a couple times a day with the Barbershop cream balm. That's what I have been doing for the last week and I have quite enjoyed it.

Razor - Gillette NEW LC (Delta Echo)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - VDH Scented Luxury
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Third shave with the LC and Ladas and it was another fine one. Blade is still super smooth, finish was so close to BBS that I'll call it that, and the VDH soap with JR46 brush was as nice as anything costing twice as much or more. Hard to beat a shave like this one. One of those that reminds you just how good the vintage Gillette razors can be, how good Russian steel is and how well the "plain jane" stuff can work as well.

Hope your Saturday was a great one! And may your Sunday be even better!
