He isn't part of the 30DC. Due to the late timeframe in getting the sales information posted, there was a concern that Jeeves was going to be left with a bunch of unsold soaps and splashes. Since I had put myself on the line to purchase any unsold ones, I OKed them being offered to non-30DC members. I was terrified I was going to be on the hook for $500 in unsold soaps and splashes. Lesson learned for the next LE soap we do, regardless of vendor, and how to make sure everyone from the 30DC gets first crack at it.
I'm thinking with my 3-4 shaves per week, and the amount of razors I have, I could make most of the year. It would force me to up my honing game some to get all the straights usable. Anyone else interested in EDRIO for 2019?
Great picture, Jim. I've looked at that soap set. I never feel like I can get a good feel for a scent without chatting with someone who used it. What is the scent like?
You're close to revealing my true identity but I'd never work for Gillette Russia. I prefer Moscow over St. Pete's. Dinner with Vlad is much easier when you live and work in the Capitol.
It was a pretty good start with this razor, and the soap is indeed new. The scent is a little sweeter than I thought it might be, but still very good.
I'd class them like a modern Gillette Flare Tip, maybe leaning towards the aggression of a Red Tip. Sturdy build, acceptable finish, affordable to the Common Man. With choices in handles; Grande for longer & lighter, or Piccolo for short but solid - if someone wants to give OC DE's a try. They aren't to be feared, but appreciated! I could see if the scent was custom, especially if it was an odd blend the maker would want a firm commitment on unsold product. Doesn't hurt that The 30 DC got to be the first to own a new mix, just a little that someone else was impressed enough to buy up the potentially unsold production run. Maybe getting a longer exclusive deal for The Crew so no one gets shut out by Spec Buyers. I trust Jeeves didn't loose any money on the whole deal. I could be in and out in about a month even with my every other day shaves if I committed to Schicks and DE's. Although I've done better at keeping to monthly theme Foci, cycling through all is closer to my unguided style. I worked in a donut shop during my senior HS year. Given free access to not just the regular variety, but the machines to make them I'm more particular about my selection. (Members of The Health Club might want to turn away) Fresh is important. Still warm is top notch. French Crullers or Apple Fritters are the bomb.
Thank you, Andrew! I am definitely looking forward to finding out how this razor does. I have played with it a bit, and the blade definitely seems secure when loosened a bit.
Thank you, Adam. The scent is a little sweeter than I thought it might be, but I like it. I get some powdery notes with some vanilla. There is a woodsy undertone to it, that I notice more as the day goes on. The scent description from PAA has oak moss in it, and I can just get a sense of that. In reality it is a nicely done scent, if a bit sweeter than my normal preferences.
My regular postings haven't been so regular lately. I have my hands full as a newly-christened General Contractor. I didn't sign up for that job.
Looks like quite the project, Joseph! But it seems to be coming along nicely, you must be doing a good job as a GC!
If any 30DCer missed out on the Blood on Steel set (soap & splash), I’ll happily sell my unused set for what I paid for it with free shipping thrown in. Just let me know. As we’ve previously established. I have too many soaps.
