The Deluxe is definitely its own animal, unique from the LC. Similar but a different animal within the species. I'm going to be giving mine a few shaves this month then deciding on replating it.

Do you remember the seller's name? Just curious as there's one in particular I use for Sharp Star. And gets most of my business when he has the others as well.

    Razor - OCMM
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
Brush - The Canuck (apshaveco SynBad)
    Post - Alum

The Canuck made its debut tonight. My newest brush courtesy of some fine Canadians who lacked enough self-control to lose a bet. Thanks guys. We can try again in '19 if you'd like! The brush looks awesome and you'd swear it was designed by only one person. The handle is great to hold and another beauty in the tradition of the LE brushes that @jtspartan made. And @Screwtape clearly knows synthetic knots. When he asked what kind I preferred I left it pretty open for him. Just as Indiana Jones and the Grail - he chose well.

The brush is a higher loft than my other synthetics and it's also my first flat top brush. That gave it a totally different feel when loading but I soon got the hang of it. And after the shave I squeezed enough lather out of it to send to everybody here for a few days shave. It loaded an amazing amount of the Soap Commander. And, when face lathering - talk about a soft and HUGE splay. I would swear it was high end badger. Very nice! I highly recommend this knot if you're looking for something different in a synth. The flat top seemed to allow an easier splay than the bulbs, but can also be used to paint very easily too. Really hard to go wrong with this one. And, with that handmade wooden handle - perfection.

What about the shave you say? Hey, it's the OCMM with a Treet Super. Speaks for itself. Awesome shave all around.

Packing to head to Kansas early Sunday. As in about 4 a.m. early. I'll get home from work tomorrow night about 8, eat, shave, try for bed by 10 or so then up at 3 to start the trek west. I'm taking my New LC (original finish) with a Sharp Star for the night on the road. Sterling synth brush with Sheep soap for that end of it. That will be my Sunday setup. Coming home early Monday afternoon so we'll see if there's a Monday night shave or not. Have a great Saturday!

    I purchased my blades from oktane-2008. $7.39 per 100 + $14 shipping = $50.95 for 500 blades

This tub is MdC is almost near the end, I think I bought it 3 years ago. To speed up the end I decided to break out the tea kettle, scuttle and a huge Simpson Polo 12, this brush is a monster. MdC does not like high heat but it held together enough for a nice shave.

I'm way late to the party, but a couple of my oc razors have risen to the top of my pile. I no longer fear them; nay, I often prefer them. My Gillette ball end old type and my GEM MMOC see tons of action, as do my Joris oc razors. I'm a fan.

I've been way absent lately. My no-buy this year has resulted in me staying away a bit to avoid temptation. It has also resulted in a first for me: I finally finished off a soap. One tub of Lisa's Natural has now been used to the last fine drop. It will be replaced when my no-buy is over. I'm gonna be offloading a good bit of soap and simplifying my setup. In avoiding temptation and focusing on what I have, I've learned what I really like and started leaving a lot of soaps alone. Now, instead of the rush of trying something new, I'm kind of getting the same kind of rush about further simplifying to a handful of brands I know I enjoy, and only buying when I have finished something.

    OCtober 13th
Razor: Gillette New LC, Timeless Bronze handle
    Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (1)
    Brush: Jayaruh 151 boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Clasico Bay Rum
    Stirling Bay Rum witch hazel
AS: PAA Captain Smythe's Reserve Bay Rum

    Good morning!

Razor and brush change up today. I'm going with the New LC and boar brush I won from the TSD raffle, generously donated by Jim @Jayaruh. As much as I appreciate the appearance and craftsmanship of the custom handle Jim included, it's a bit slippery for me, even with alum on my fingertips. I paired it with the Timeless Bronze handle, and in my opinion it looks pretty good! The added weight is also welcome as I'm used to heavier razors.

The usual two pass with touch up. DFS result. Straight forward drama free shave.

The JR151 whipped up a great lather from the PAA soap. I know in the past I stated that this Bay Rum smells like pickles, and it still does if I stick my nose right in the puck. I have a new found appreciation for it. After my last use I left it open to dry like I normally do and when I walked back into the bathroom a little later I was greeted by a wonderful classic bay rum scent. The concentrated scent off the puck changes with a little distance. Enough rambling.

    Have a great weekend! [IMG]
