"Bow Razor" by Wade And Butcher. These a great razors, and one of my favorites to own. This one will be getting some new scales, along with a little TLC.
First acquisition in quite some time. I have been on the lookout for a decent Tennis brand for a couple years now. Of course the price had to be right( I’m still a tightwad) So this one finally caught my eye. Seller was basically an antique dealer and the auction ended at 6am, pictures were bad, plus the price started at $22. All good signs for a score. I woke up at 6, bid and won at the beginning bid. A little hone wear, but even. It cleaned up nicely and the blade was straight and took an edge easier than pie. BEFORE AFTER
Thanks guys! Tennis brand was a Fritz Bracht brand prior to purchasing Dovo. Another example of a high quality Solingen razor that’s “under the radar”.
@Spyder that tennis looks great. It’s always nice to find a under appreciated gem for a good price too.
C-MON/KIEBITZ, Garantie. GEBR EMDF Solingen-Weyer Frankenrazor. But, I liked the scales, which are in fantastic shape, and the blade looked in pretty good shape. Any History, or Information on either is welcome.
Cool razor Scott. Could the last name be EMDE? I think I found a Gebrüder Emde in Solingen-Weyer registered in 1925 & 1928. Maybe moved in 1939. I don’t see that he registered Kiebitz, but he did register “Kobar”. Now Kiebitz is a bird, northern lapwing(???), but didn’t see that symbol registered either. But I think late 20’s to mid 30’s maybe is the right period. Tom
I own a Kiebetz .Great Steel and wonderful shaver.Mine was part of a seven day set for use in Germany .Posting a pic so you know what original scales would have looked like .
Kiebitz made some really good looking razors that also took a really good edge. You should be very pleased by it. And from what I’ve read on them @TestDepth is right for the time period. Nice example for the scales. They did put some nice scales on them, many color combos.
Definitely looks like EMDE to me. Incomplete or shallow stamps make for interesting guesswork. I have a Solingen razor that says it's from GLRMANY...
I have not been one a SR bender in a while. Still use mine every week or so. Anyhow today I went hunting and found a Shapleigh that appears to have never been used. It is their Diamond Jubilee, dating it to 1918. Along with a travel brush(not vintage) for the princely sun of $15. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
