With regards to Schicks... I have a fairly tough beard and, using the G1, need quite a bit of buffing to get the ol' face nice and smooth in some spots. Is an E2 a huge step up in aggression from the G1? Like going from a Tech to an OCMM step up? Is the E as 'dangerous' as an OCMM?
The early E2 that the head opens up and the PAL Injecto-Matic are probably the two most aggressive injectors ever made. I would say that they can hang with the OCMM.
I've read that the E2 and the Injecto-Matic are pretty rough when using the Personna blades. Have you found this to be the case? It's hard to get hold of Schick blades for a decent price here in the UK, so I will only be getting Personna!
My three pass shave is very similar, N/S first pass (WTG on cheeks and chin, ATG center of neck, XTG on sides of neck and jaw,) S/N second pass (WTG on center of neck, XTG on sides of neck ATG on chin and cheeks,) third pass has four parts: From the mustache out to below my jawline(XTG/ATG,) then from my ear to my Adam's apple on the neck (ATG,) then from the top of my neck down in the middle (ATG,) then from the top of my neck up to my lip (ATG.) I'm glad I'm not the only one with a weird third pass. I need to find and open my Palmolive stick.
Usually 4-6. I don't really push them though, as soon as the shave isn't as close as normal I ditch them
Thank you for the help on my Cooper Monobuilt. Before yesterday's shave, I oiled the heck out of the razor. I found that the tightening mechanism wasn't turning the last quarter turn. Loaded a fresh Rapira Swedish Steel (the best blade Russia has to offer,) and saw that it was getting pinched. Took a pair of scissors to it, and trimmed about half of each tab off the sides. That allowed me to close the razor more than I have before. Stirling lather, and away we go! Very smooth shave this time. Still a lot of blade feel, and a wide range of angle available. Still the potential to bite, but no biting today. Three pass shave, a little buffing, and an irritation free shave with quiet alum. Not quite a BBS, but a comfortable shave with a classic aftershave finish.
Thanks Adam. I have a ways to go, but it's a good start. I'm sure @BaylorGator is enjoying the extra cookies.
Glad to hear it is functional now. Get used to the flat top a little more and the smooth finishes will come, imho.
Fortunately my imaginary mailbox is big enough to handle almost an endless supply of imaginary cookies.
