Fantastic photo and shave Jim. Love the dart. Might be ordering 2 razors on the 3rd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's pretty good progress. Here are a few things that helped me get my SR shaves smoother. 1) Slow Down. If you don't have time for it, grab a faster razor. You shouldn't have to use pressure to get the razor to cut. 2) Don't think of it as shaving. Visualize removing the lather from your skin. Trust me, the whiskers will come with it. 3) Skin stretching. Use your off hand to pull the skin away from the direction of the cut. I rub my wet fingers on my alum block, and this allows my fingers to grip soapy skin. This was a game changer for me. 4) Lather. Make sure your lather is a little on wet side. Mine is good when it is almost too hydrated to stay put on my face. Typically this means I make a mess when I am putting it on my face, but it cleans up easily. 5) Blade angle. The spine of the razor should be 1-2 spine widths from your face. This allows the razor to cut, rather than scrape. Much less irritation. I set my razor down almost flat to my face. Keep us posted on how you are doing. If we don't hear from you, we will assume your wife had you committed.
October 26, 2018Delta Echo New SC with Triad SS Feather Zenith B27 Boar 28mm x 55mm Stirling R4L Soap and Splash Happy Friday everyone. I decided to use a Triad SS handle on the Delta Echo New SC for today’s shave since I’m not a fan of the thin common bar handle. The Stirling R4L is just fantastic. The scent is a very complex vetiver scent with notes of citrus among others. The result is one of the best vetiver scents I’ve tried. I hope he decides to make the scent as part of his regular lineup. The three passes shave was smooth and comfortable apart from a weeper. I always wanted to try a New SC and a Delta Echo and jumped on this razor when it was listed on the DFS BST. In my ongoing effort to keep The Den under control, this will be the final the razor’s final outing. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sounds like a great start to the day, Perry! Enjoy the game tonight. Another great combo, Jim! Only a week until your next Blackland?
October Focus Barrister & Mann Leviathan~~Simpson CH2 SiLVERTiP~~1938 Gillette Senator~~Personna 74 What a wonderful shave today. The B&M Leviathan won't appeal to everyone, but it is mos def one of my favorites. Fascinating scent. Love it. Today I used my Gillette Senator, which has also quickly become one of my favorite tools in my den. From its looks to its mechanism to its smooth as silk shave, I have zero complaints. Inserted in it was a multiple use Personna 74. It's still going strong. No tugging at this point, so it's on deck for the foreseeable future. I almost offered my CH2 in trade, looking for a Varlet, but thanks to a few good friends on the forums, I came to my senses. It is a remarkable brush. The Chubby 2 size handle fits perfectly in my "man-hands" (Seinfeld reference) The tips are velvety and the backbone isn't overwhelming. When I compare these bristles to my old Manchurian brushes, these win hands-down. For me, Manchurian hair is simply too scrubby. 3 passes + touch up for a BBS. Yes, BBS---no lower than skin-level for those of you in Rio Linda. Healthy splash of the Leviathan AS and I am off to take on the day.
Thank you Jason. I am trying to only keep razors I will use on a regular basis. I already have a couple of Birth Year Razors that stay in the den without being used regularly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
