SOTD OCtober 26th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Blackland Blackbird Above The Tie Atlas H2 GSB (3) Doug Korn Stubby (35mm, Carrier Class) Mike's Natural Soaps "Orange, Cedarwood, and Black Pepper" Myrsol "Agua De Limon" Another Blackbird showdown on this fine Friday morning. This time with a razor that is in the same price tier, the ATT Atlas H2. From a visual comparison the head geometry and blade gap seem to be pretty close on these two razors with the ATT having a smidge more blade reveal. This morning was also my first use of Mike's Natural soap, and while the lather was amazing I don't think that this scent is my cup of tea. After building a super slick foundation out of the Mike's I put blade to face. I started with the Blackbird on the right. Still smooth with decent blade feel. With the ATT H2 on the left I though perhaps that it might have had a tiny bit more blade feel but it was really too close to call. The rest of the shave progressed similarly, both razors were really equally matched with blade feel and efficiency. I fact if I were blindfolded I probably wouldn't have known that I was shaving with two different razors. I finished with a spritz of Myrsol Lemon and experienced no sting from the alcohol. Have a great weekend my friends! TGIF!!
I can't quite get my head around this head and handle combo! To be fair, I'm in love with the look of the Delta Echo DEs!
Thanks, Jason! Thanks Brian! Which one? (kidding, I know no one looks at my shave photo when I post pics of the boys)
Thank you, Jason. Looks like although I was thinking it would at least be a few more weeks between new razors. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great picture and report, Joseph. Leviathan is another soap that I've been considering. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great photo and post Andrew. Love the picture of the little guys. Happy Friday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ikon razors among other modern razors offer a black razor head with a stainless handle so the idea is not at all original to me. I love the looks of the Delta Echo razor but not the weight of the handle. I wanted to try the razor with a heavier handle to make a final determination on it staying or going. In the end it’s going. I’m really not surprised since I prefer modern razors. I like their build quality, shaves and weight. It’s very rare for a vintage razor to stay with me very long. The exception has been the Gem Damaskeene razors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
