I like shaving, and see no reason to rush the process. Four passes each day is just right for me. No irritation, a nice shave, and 25% more pleasure than a three pass shave.
We all have different growth, i tend to go for 4-5 passes, I don't use a super aggressive razor and always tey for my best prep and lather
As others have said, for me it depends on the time available (5-20 minutes), the desired outcome (Acceptable clean shave, DFS or FULL BBS) AND the tool used (Cartridge razor, DE, Shavette or Straight). So each shave is different for me. That said, I would guess that my average number of passes would be 2+. Maybe 3, as I usually go for BBS if I have the time.
