  2. November 1st
    Razor: Blackland Dart
    Blade: Astra SP (1)
    Brush: Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Stirling Port AU Prince
    Stirling mentholated witch hazel
    AS: Stirling Port AU Prince

Good morning! I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween. We had a lot of trick or treaters. The most memorable costume of the night was a little girl in a "VOTE FOR PEDRO" t-shirt and eating tater tots from her pocket.

I decided the Port AU Prince will be the first to leave the den. The sample has been pressed into my Jay's Clay lather bowl and will remain on the vanity for daily use until it's gone.

The new brush whipped up a fine lather. I did have some practice lathers during the initial defunking and I found I had to load the brush a bit longer than what I have been. No bristles lost this morning but several were lost during the cleaning process. Hopefully it has settled. It's a 24mm knot in a 26mm ferrule. I put an o-ring around the base of the knot before installing it as deep as possible without interfering with the threads. Good amount of backbone without being too stiff. I enjoy breaking in new brushes.

Paired the Dart with an Astra SP for this morning's shave and as many have said before me, they are a top notch blade at a bargain price. Two pass with touch up, DFS result.

    Have a great day![IMG]

  3. Gary, it's actually a Z-3. I also have a K-1, which is my sister's birth quarter. How about yours?

  4. SOTD November 1, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G5
    Brush: JR #41 badger
    Soap: Palmolive shave stick
Post: Witch hazel, Country Club for Men Sweet Water aftershave

Straightforward shave this morning. No frills, just good results. Palmolive soap works quite well. The G5 injector also works well and of course any brush by @Jayaruh is a terrific piece of craftsmanship. Good smelling finish from the Country Club splash and it's time to face the music.

Fun night last night. Wilson decided to dress as a conductor. He has a toddler-sized tuxedo, which was perfect, and we hit the streets in the neighborhood of a friend. There were four kids trick or treating together. We had some college kids we know stay at our house and give out candy here, but only one kid stopped by. Our neighborhood has never been festive with Halloween, hence the reason to go to another neighborhood as we did. Fun night, but we went out to eat afterwards and got in bed later than usual, so the coffee is definitely in order today.

Great shaves, everyone. Looking forward to a terrific month!

  5. Great family photo, Neal! I look forward to following your No Repeat November. Of course, since your pen is shown in the photo, you could affix a blade to it for an encore shave. :signs002: Think about it. A good 'ole traditional shave using a Parker 51 handle could attract some shaving converts from The Fountain Pen Network.

  12. Beautiful setup and photo, Jim. Love the razor and brush combo, and it's hard to beat an Astra SP blade. I filed Eating Tater Tots From Pocket under Survival for future reference.

    November 1 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette British Aristocrat #66
    Blade: Rapira PL
    Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
Lather: Mystic Waters Coconut Lime Verbena
    Aftershave: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

It was a wet night last night as thunder storms put a damper on Halloween for the kids. It sounds like a tornado touched down at the refinery and overturned a trailer, so it may be interesting at work today. I got the day started right with a favorite razor I almost never pull out. Smooth and easy. It was really a great shave. I hope everyone has a great day!
  14. Thank you, Charlie.
The first time I watched Napoleon Dynamite I thought this was one stupid movie. Turns out it's addictive, whenever I'm channel surfing and it's on I watch it again.

  15. Great shave, Perry. Lots of Palmolive love around here these days. Please share a photo of Wilson in his costume if you have one.

Have a great day and an extra cup of Joe this morning.

  17. Your cased Aristocrat is stunning, Jim. What a great way to start the day!

I hope everything is OK at work. Severe weather and refineries (or chemical plants like the one I worked in) don't go well together.
